The speed would not change no matter how fast you threw it. Very disappointing.

Upon unboxing this ball and following the instructions, the ball would not activate/work. Thinking it might be a bad battery issue, we sought to remove the battery to troubleshoot, but the leather cover was so misaligned that you couldn't open the battery compartment. My son found that it didn't meet official standards, as it was heavier than an official ball, as well as it not being spherical. Regardless if if it actually worked and you could get a speed out of it, the performance would be affected by the many flaws. Very cheaply made/constructed. We followed the company instructions to try to get a replacement with the warranty/contact information that was provided by Amazon and by SKLZ.com. They required the product be "registered," but the website had no way of registering a product at all. Can't register, can't complain, I guess. Just terrible customer service all the way around. Don't buy it!

The ball didn't work, it came with a speed amount showing but never changed. The tiny screen was also slightly cracked and you can tell it was previously used. You can't hit it with a bat either and never said that in the description above but it written at the back of package. I might replace it or just get a refund instead.

The ball didn't work from right out of the packaging. Directions say to tap it or bang it with your palm to turn it on, which didn't work initially. After removing the battery and reinstalling it turned on. Directions for set-up are poor and not helpful. My kids tried pitching to each other and after a few throws each where each throw was the exact same mph (ages 16, 13, & 10) and significantly slower than what they throw they gave up and became frustrated. Unfortunately, the frustration of my 13 y/o caused him to throw the ball which left the grass and skidded across the driveway, marking it and causing the screen to move askew, so I doubt I can return it now.

Got this for my boys to practice with and the only reason it didnt get 5 stars was because it was a pain in the butt to get started. Once we figured it out though it worked as designed. My youngest son who is 8 pitched a few from 46 ft and he was ranging from 45 to 55 mph and my oldest at 13 went to 60 and was averaging 45 to 50 mph. If you dont catch the ball in the pocket of the glove the mph will not be correct. or if it bounces on the ground so it really is touchy so keep that in mind. It worked as planned for me though cause now the kids see how fast they are throwing and want to speed it up and are practicing to get faster.

Despite all the negative reviews, I decided to buy one of these to test my pitching speed. Assuming that a huge problem people had with these balls was not properly using it correctly, I gave it a chance. I figured that the way the ball calculated pitch speed was the time it took for a ball to be released to the time it took to be catched, factored with the distance the ball was set.So someone pitching 50mph from 30 feet away, while having set the distance to 60 feet away, was undoubtedly going to get a 100mph reading. I figured if I could avoid doing something like that, the ball would actually be helpful. Wrong. From the get-go, I had difficulty setting the ball distance to what I actually wanted and after 20 aggrevating minutes of doing the exact same thing and reading the instructions several times, the ball finally decided to do what I was trying to get it to do.Finally, after setting the ball's distance properly by some sort of miracle, I took it outside with a friend to give it a pitch. We measured a 45' distance between his glove and my moment of release and I threw some warmup pitches with another ball. When it was time to actually throw the bullet ball, it wouldn't turn on even though instructions clearly said you had to tap it once to achieve this. I kept tapping it and tapping it again several times and after 2 minutes, the ball finally decided to turn on.I threw it, battery covering and battery both shot out of the ball as soon as it went into my friend's glove. Friend caught it dead center of his glove and I know for a fact that I can't pitch over 70mph.Kind of a waste considering I spent a very long time trying to make it work and then having it fail on me on the first pitch. Would not recommend.
