The pictures on the product description do not look like what I actually received, and I am glad about that! These rocks are sooooo much more sparkly and shiny in person. They are a perfect plum-purple color. Size is great too--varies from 1/2 inch (most pieces) to about an inch-and-a-half (see my pic)I bought the 50 lb. size. What you see in my pics is 40 lbs. being used in a 24" diameter.fire bowl, with about a 4.5"depth (hope that helps). I will definitely be buying more.

There were a lot of small (1/2 inch or smaller) sharp pieces we didn't want to use because they could get stuck in any gaps. The larger pieces are great.

I do not use my fireplace because it's an older home and I'm afraid of a chimney fire. A gas line to the fireplace is $$$$$. So I purchased Dark Amber Fireplace glass and then buried the lights in the glass. It's a great look and made use of a dark fireplace. Lights are pluged into an amazon smart plug controlled by Alexa.

I love these purple glass stones! Our fire pit came with the bland lava rock (ick) but these really make the fire so much more enjoyable. They don't scream purple, you really only see the color when the flames are right and shine through the glass. They have a beautiful reflection, too, that adds so much to the beauty of the fire. I got two bags, but I think I will be getting at least one more, to build up more of a mound on the fire, and also to place into our small fountain to reflect the lovely purple color with the built in light. They are a bit jagged, but really, you have to expect that with glass pieces. Just rinse them through a colander before pouring them into your fire pit (or fountain) so you won't have to clean the thing of the glass powder. I highly recommend this product and will be getting more!
