Tongs arrived rusted at the hinge and very difficult to open/close. The pin holding them together appears likely to fail in short order, too.

Either not new or have been sitting in a wet warehouse. The pin area has wear on it and it's so firm that it's not possible to open and close them with one hand unless you use excessive force which would make them "jump". Not something I'm going to be using to grab a beaker filled with a chemicals. Too dangerous to use.
