It was made as a cultural rendition of a ritual bell that is used in the Buddhist temples of many Asian countries.
As a religious practice, there is usually a metal bell hanging at the entrance of most Thai temples.

The picture shows a lot of green patina. It arrived a solid grey color, no green patina. Yes, description says color may vary, but I thought that meant there might be some variation in the amount or shading of the patina, not that there would be none. Also, the seller’s box is very flimsy and it was shipped in a padded envelope, so the box inside was smashed. Luckily the bubble wrap kept the bell from being smashed, but certainly the packaging could be improved.I’m returning it.
