Expensive product (eighty dollars). If helps prevent kitchen stove fires, so I'm all in. Using 1940's Hotpoint 4 burner, loaded with inaccessible grease. Fire extinguisher standing by with fire alarm in hallway. God help us all.

Considering that these are often purchased by the elderly who oftentimes have hearing issues, the alarm is no where near loud enough. Very dissatisfied.

As a senior I found I was occasionally leaving a burner on and walking away. I can't do that with this gadget installed. All you do is stick it above your stove. There is no wiring. I can hear it in the other room if I forgot to turn things off. It doesn't cost much but it is worth every penny. My neighbor didn't have one, left a burner on under a teapot, and almost burned down her entire house. She is still in a hotel 6 weeks later as they try to repair the damage. This little gadget would have saved thousands. I've used it for over a year now.

This product may work on other stove tops but the manual says it has to be placed 18 inches above the stove top. The bottom of our microwave is only 11 inches from the stove top, so it apparently won't work properly. When I tried to talk to the manufacturer, I was totally given the run-around. They couldn't even find the product listed. The phone number and website goes directly to Frigidaire and more than one representative said Frigidaire does not make the product and it's not found on a search of the website. And Amazon does not have RETURNS for this product!!! A waste of $30!!! Now I have to figure out how to dispose of it. AMAZON IS TOTALLY IRRESPONSIBLE!!

We left a pan heating on the stove and didn't realize it until we smelled smoke. I then found this product and installed it. It does require some use and button pushing to set the alarm temperature for the installed position/height and your normal cooking temperatures. The instructions are pretty clear and it just adheres to the vent hood above and is not visible unless you really look for it. It now operates without many nuisance alarms and really does let us know if something is left on the stove. It goes from a fairly inoffensive alert to a more strident alarm pretty rapidly though for us. It stops alarming on pan cooldown after a brief delay.I both highly recommend buying it and also really hope for an even better product. My wish list for an improved product:-Adjustable alarm volumes. I'd want the high alarm to be louder.-Let you see temperature settings and what it is sensing so you can adjust alarms to what you want vs the button pushing to find which of 8 levels work well.-Connect to smart home system (I use Zigbee/Zwave).-Connect to a matching power interrupt device to turn the electric cooktop completely off on high alarm. If you leave a pot on and go away, you obviously won't know this one is alarming.Even without my wish list I think this is cheap insurance!

I bought this device to alert my elderly 92 yr old mom (with mild dementia) if she forgets the stove is on. The device does seem to work as advertised. It goes off when things get hot on the stove. Although, it may confuse some elderly folks like it did my mom. She didn't remember to hit the button to turn off the alarm and set the device away from the stove. But, after reminding her about the button, she seems to get it now. It may just take a little repetition/practice. For very little money, this seems to be a good intermediate step for an added bit of security, until I decide we need something more robust.

I purchased and installed this over my elderly Mothers stove. She struggles at times with her memory so I thought I would install this just in case she walks away from the stove and burns something. When the sensor started sounding a low volume beeping, indicating it senses activity, she thought it was going off and calling the fire department or alarm company. She removed the device and hid it.I wish the sensor would only sound when there is truly and risk / excess heat and not the annoying activity sensor beeps. I will not attempt to put it back into place as it is annoying and not ideal for elderly that won't understand how it works or why it beeps when there isn't a heat / fire threat condition.

I don't review stuff often but thought this deserved one. I Purchased this for my mother to help monitor my father with dementia as a stopgap for further measures to be put in place, it has already paid off... the very evening we installed it he placed the glass coffee pot on the stove and turned it on high. the alarm went off before the plastic handle melted or anything bad happened and they were able to remove the coffee pot and turn off the heat with no damage done.the sensor has an alarm if it is removed from the mounting plate which is a nice feature (silences alarm off if its remounted on its magnetic back plate).it has single button operation for setup and configuration as well as silencing the alarmif properly configured via the directions it will work just fine. you just need to configure it (I suggest configuring before mounting the back plate to the range hood). All in all we are pleased with the purchase so far. its been about 2 days since it was installed.
