I really wanted to love the Scyan X10 Smart Door Lock—so sleek, so high-tech, so promising... until it met reality. Installed it in my 6-unit multi-family building, and within a week, it became more temperamental than my old roommate trying to parallel park. It’s fragile, finicky, and apparently has a lifespan shorter than a fruit fly. Every time someone bumps it slightly, it freezes up like a Windows 95 computer. Great for a studio apartment, maybe. Terrible for anything remotely resembling durability or multi-unit use. Lesson learned: technology is cool, but reliability should come standard. Two stars, and only because it looks good while failing

I ordered this for my bedroom as we were under construction and the wife wanted a dark colored lock with a fingerprint reader. I did not get to install it until about 3 months after we ordered it. Seems simple enough, but the main reason we bought it was for the fingerprint reader. I set up 3 separate fingerprints in the system using the same finger and I am lucky if it reads correctly 1 in 10 times. Its a huge pain to use. I get locked out daily with the siren going off and then I need my cell phone to unlock it with Bluetooth. That part works great but I don't always have my phone. The unit was installed correctly and the handle has fallen off twice. I cant send it back at this point, so its going in the dumpster. I would not recommend this unit.

I got this about 6 months ago and it is heavily used. I have a family member with dementia living w/ me so I can give all the people in and out of the house a code when needed. Also the family member is able to use the fob as they no longer have the dexterity to use a regular key. About 2 weeks ago the handle broke off with the whole mechanism that connects it to the main part of the unit. The customer service was great Scyan had me return it to them and they had it back to me in a week! So hopefully that was a one off incident because otherwise it’s been great for my family’s needs. O yes the finger print scanner, 2 of 4 of the people in my house can use it all the time w/ no problem. So I don’t know if it’s body chemistry or user error why 2 of us can’t get the finger print scanner to work.

Very easy to install using existing holes. I never was successful programming it using my phone. However I was able to program passcode and finger prints without phone. It worked really well several weeks when the batteries went dead. I replaced them and they were dead in 5 days. I returned it for a refund. When I remover the lock to replace it with a SCYAN X5 I discovered that rain water had come in around the set screw in the door handle. I think that is what caused the problem with the batteries. I put a dab of silicone over the set screw after instilling. Hope that will prevent any water damage. And I love my new X5 SCYAN. Easy to install and easy to program and very easy to use.

Great product so far no remembering code or key fob. Lots of ways to set up someone with individual code or finger print. Push notifications let me know who is coming in since you can add names attached to access. App is really easy to use and nice since you can unlock it from the app. Don’t have to get up to let someone in. Definitely recommend this lock. It is on a condo door inside a temp controlled hallway. Thumb print works great even if you have been in the water a long time and your finger is wrinkled
