I believe it is just straight up high density polyethylene, so the materials are nothing special, a bit overpriced in my opinion but it works and it's fun to use.

First it bends pretty easily after only using it for about a week taking it in and out of my garage one of the corners is a little bent, it can be bent back or probably even just cut off but it was a little annoying that it already needs some repairs. Pucks glide just ok on it. not bad but not great. trying to do any kind of puck handling with a real ice hockey puck the puck just drags and ends up on edge. If you want to practice stick handling on this I recommend a weighted ball or maybe a roller puck. As strictly a shooting pad it is pretty good. protects your stick from the concrete and you can whip some pucks on net. Id recommend actually buying at least one up from the smallest one.

This shooting pad is an absolute must for any young/developing hockey player to practice shots. I can see a definite improvement in my son's on-ice shooting ability since he began practicing with this pad. It is a good low-friction mimic for ice, and can be used anywhere.

i don't have anything to compare this to, but it works exactly as i would have hoped. we have been kicking the crap out of it and, although it shows marks on it, the pucks (real ones and green biscuits) still slide really well on it.we got the 30x60". i don't see how you could smaller than that for an adult or kids older than 8, unless you're just taking snap and slap shots or doing short movement stick handling. to really practice the "nose to toes" shooting technique, you need the large size.this thing can really take a beating! we take ours inside after using it, so i can't comment on how it would hold up with prolonged weather/sun exposure.

When we received the product we did not have much confidence of this product, because it was pretty "thin".However, after shooting the pucks and stick handling outdoor for a couple of months, this shooting pad is still rock solid and no cracks or damaged found, just some minor scratches that was caused by dirt.Also the puck still slide smoothly when doing stick handling. It is not real ice smooth, but close to.Very good product and highly recommended.

The 24x48 is a bit small for an adult. The surface seems to scratch a bit easily. Pucks do not move nearly as well on this as ice. I’m planning on spraying it with some sort of lubricant to reduce the coefficient of frictionUpdate : sprayed wd40 and wiped with a clothe. Pucks slide much better. Not as slick as ice (no layer of water under the puck), but it’s good. 4.5/5

I upgraded to this shooting pad from a small 30"x40" shooting pad that I had. This one is great. It's thick and heavy duty and it is extremely smooth, much smoother than the other one I had. I used the green biscuit on this and it was a very close match to stickhandling on ice. I'd definitely recommend this in combination with the green biscuit. Also, use white tape on your stick so you don't scuff up the plastic.
