I used this to hold an artificial tree in a large planter and it works perfectly. You have to be certain to hammer in the threaded, pronged bolt on the bottom of the base into the wood or it will wobble. I'm considering ordering more for future use.

I have a small tree in an upstairs room of our house. The base that originally came with the tree broke, so I needed to find a new one. This looked pretty basic, so I ordered it. It's just what I expected. I didn't guess right on the diameter, so the opening for the tree to slip into is a little too big, but I can make that work by wrapping the tree with a little plastic wrap (do the same thing for candles when they're a little small for the holders). There are no instructions, so it took some trial and error on my part to figure it out. There are two wooden parts that are notched to fit together at a right angle. Easiest way to do that was to lay one on a counter, notched part up, lay the other one over it, and then nudge until they slipped together. There is a hole down the middle and a flanged bolt of sorts. It fits in the hole - be sure to give it a good hard rap with a hammer, and it will settle in. Turn it over, fit the two parts of the tree holder together (very obvious), and then put through the hole from the side that does not have the bolt, then screw it into the bolt. It will tighten and the teeth on the underside of the bolt will be pulled into the wood to hold it firmly. Really easy once you figure it out.

Set screw is too short to hit the tree base. My tree base is about 1” and it doesn’t even come close to touching it. Not sure how they can say this fits 1/2”. Already threw the packaging away so now I’m stuck with this base that doesn’t work.

I decided to use an outdoor planter for my artificial tree. I needed a smaller tree stand and this did the trick.It's covered in sand in the picture. Note, I added a rubber tree bark.

The actual diameter of my tree was to small but I just put some pieces of cardboard to make it work. I just ordered another one!!FYI you need to edit SET out of the about section. Makes you think you are getting 2 tree stands not 1.
