This brass lamp holder is a beautiful piece of art that will add an elegant touch to any space. The brass looks very special and gives an exotic feeling to the room, it is made up of two pieces of glass which protect the wick from damage and burnout.

Bought this to try using vegetable oil as a backup lamp,,, works great,,, maybe not quite as bright as if i used lamp oil, but the house is tight, so wanted to use a non petroleum base fuel…

This is a beautiful piece, and the quality shows. It is far better than I expected. Being solid brass, it does get quit hot and to be expected. If your looking for a unique and beautiful piece, don't pass this up. Highly highly recommended.

The lamp arrived in the most secure packaging I've ever seen: sealed in plastic wrap, surrounded by a foam wrap, snugly wrapped in bubble wrap, and tightly packed in a thick cardboard box completely sealed with tape. So imagine my surprise when I unwrapped it. First, there are no instructions. How you you remove the glass? How do you light it? What size wick does it use? How do you fill it with oil? What fuel should you use? When I figured out how to remove the glass. I carefully filled the well with 99% pure liquid paraffin candle and lamp liquid and excitedly lit the wick. When I tilted the well slightly, it leaked fluid from around the seal presenting a fire hazard! With the glass reinstalled on the base and the flame lit, the hanging hook on top of the lamp becomes very hot to the touch. Finally, only then did I notice that the lamp glass had a fine crack in it! I didn't return this item because of Amazon's prohibition against transporting flammable items. (The wick was soaked.) I do not recommend purchasing this item and wish I had read more reviews before buying it.

Also, holds on;ly a very small amount of oil - perhaps by design given the leak issue, or perhaps the leak is a consequence of the small tank. Solid brass, and looks good, but it's important not to overfill the small tank obviously.

Not bad for the money. Thing looks sweet. Feels solid compared to the brass lantern Virginia lanterns or whoever has on here for triple the price. I'm not sure what is and isn't brass. Thing is heavy ( like four pounds hvy) which tells me there metal other then brass. The oil reservoir is not brass since I can tell from the finish coming off on spots. Was pretty rusty inside tank which isn't a big big deal, only other thing i noticed are the two screws that hold the oil lamp to the glass and top have to dig into the oil reservoir to keep it from falling. No holes drilled for it to travel into the reservoir so everytime you tighten it, it dents the spot more and more. Hasn't fallen out or anything but I don't see that holding up over time. Looks good feels heavy. Wick controller is a little fragile feeling like some of the oil lanterns so idk if that can be helped. Overall not bad. There weren't any reviews so thought I'd post one. Id spend thirty more bucks and get this compared to uco candle lanterns. Those are more for hiking, they r light and cheap. This is hvy, bigger flame, more conventional. After a few times using I can say it gets hot. The whole housing down to the oil reservoir warms up. Reservoir has gotten up to the nineties with flame high for thirty min. Idk how safe it is for oil reservoir to get hot like that but hasn't burst into flames or anything
