I've had this same model Sony Walkman for many years and the old one still works, but I knew they were not being manufactured any longer and wanted a "back up" one. I was thrilled to find this one and ordered it quickly. I use it at night when I go to bed. It helps me relax and get to sleep. The pre-sets give me the option to switch radio stations from talk to various music genres. I use earbuds so it doesn't disturb anyone else in the house. It picks up lots of stations and the sound is great. Sony makes a good product.

Walkman arrived in a reasonable time, worked for about ten days then cassette portion of unit stopped. I returned it for full refund. Seller is stand up. I wouldn't hesitate to but from them again.

I bought this Walkman for mom. She absolutely loved it. I'm really grateful for the purchase and delivery. It made mom's day just extra special. It bought back a lot of memories. It functions like a new Walkman, and the sound is awesome.

They said this Walkman was tested. When I received the Walkman, the headphone jack was loose, and the cassette player stop working not long after receiving.

I received this Walkman a few days ago and have used it twice. It works very well and I use it to listen to old tapes while I am speed walking. I can use my iPod ear buds with it, although it did come with ear phones. I didn't want to go to the trouble and expense of converting these old tapes, but just wanted to listen to them on my walks. I can fast forward past songs I don't like, or rewind to play a song a second time.I admit I was shocked at the cost, and am still rather embarrassed that I spent that much money. But I read all the reviews of newer, less expensive models, and finally decided to take the risk of buying a used - yet quality machine. I bought a guarantee so if it breaks down, I'm hoping it will be replaced. The sound is not the quality you are used to in an iPod or your iPhone. But it is just as good as you remember from your walkman, back "in the day." I gave this product 4 stars because of the price. I'm still rather upset with the price, but it was my choice so I shouldn't complain. The seller did write me a very nice note; the packaging was amazing, and he included extra batteries. I can only hope the machine continues to operate as well as it does now. Fingers crossed.

I've had a few Sony FX 290's, but I've dropped them all, or they fell off a shelf in my garage, ruining the battery compartment, and the fast forward button would always fall off after a few months. I still use cassettes to record off my internet radio(low tech and high tech) and I have hundreds of them, but at 90 to $100 on Amazon for a used unit, I began looking elsewhere under the Sony Walkmans and I stumbled across this unit at a more reasonable $20. I did buy a Coby unit for $10..but you get what you pay for. Every cassette I would play would drag and sound wave-like. Into the garbage. I usually shy away from the Coby name, No matter what I purchased, the product was cheaply made and sounded it.This unit plays every cassette I have with no problem, and some of them date back twenty years. Battery life seems good, and I'm glad I made the purchase. I recently ordered another one. Cassette players are hard to find. I know listening and using cassettes is " so yesterday", but they fit me perfectly. I still have a cassette player in my car. I'm a big oldies fan. Every Saturday I record two countdown shows from Pop Gold Radio and Ride Radio off my Internet radio onto my line in cassette recorder and listen to them on my Walkman and in my car. It's old school, but it works for me.Cassette players are a dying breed. Glad I came across this one at a reasonable price.
