Philip is an exemplary role model for young people finding their place, pursuing a dream, and contextualizing it within faith which gives greater purpose to the passions we discover and nurture. Both Mrs. Rivers and Mrs. Lappert have captured the importance of deepening excellence with faith and living out faith with excellence. Philip is a hard worker and a family man who has held true to his convictions even in an age of opposition to what he stands for. He has inspired others around him, including teammates through a daily witness. I encourage everyone, particularly young people, to pick this up and find strength in Philip's example of following Christ while perfecting his talents and craft.

Wonderful little book! I read this aloud to my 7-year-old sports fanatic. In the beginning, Joan writes about how Philip would play football in the yard and ask his parents to commentate for him. My son said, “hey, that’s just like me!” The rest of the story is beautiful and inspiring, especially for young boys. She really drives home the message that faith is number one and that Mary, the saints and God care and intercede for us in every area of our lives. A perfect mix of football and faith. Also a somewhat easy independent read for a new reader!

I have two sons, ages 10 and 14 and this book was great for both ages. The book includes family stories about Philip's aspirations of being an NFL quarterback and his path to doing just that. There are also multiple examples of how Philip's Catholic faith helped him through difficult times. Highly recommend!!

Philip Rivers: Passion and Purpose is unique in the fact that where I live, Philip is a local football star. There are some men who can read this with their sons and in turn, tell stories of playing with or against him in High School. What sets Passion and Purpose apart from other books is how Philip relies heavily on Catholic Faith for his success both on the field and off. This book is for men who are seeking virtue not just for themselves, but looking to either reinforce or introduce virtue to their sons or grandsons as well.

This is such a well written, and a beautiful tribute from a mother about her son. Joan Rivers incorporates their family story, her son Philip's determination and how their faith has impacted their lives and decisions. This story of one of the greatest NFL quarterbacks of our time is the perfect book to inspire children!
