Each router guide template is individually handcrafted for exactness. The template is held on the door and jamb with nails; guide pins locate the deep mortise. The edges of the template assure a perfect outline when used with Soss RGB100 template guide and lock nut, or the porter-cable template guide #42024 (lock face routing) and #42237 (lock nut). 3/8" Router bit size.

I tried installing the hinges without the router guide and failed miserably. The guide made it a lot easier. I should have bought multiple to make it even easier because of the way they line up. But I got it figured out with the one.

This is worth buying if you're doing more than 1 or 2 hinges. I was doing 6 for double pantry doors. I bought one template and made a door template with 3 holes using that one. you have to use a flush trim router bit with the second template, but if you have one already, it saves money. FYI, buy the PORTER-CABLE 42024 bushing. I have a standard bushing set for my router, but they were not deep enough. That PC bushing has a deep throat that reaches down to the 2 screws for the inner mortise.

Although a very simple idea, the unit could have been made of a much more durable material. Having said that it works just fine, with the built in idiot proof instructions. In all a very good product.

Almost a necessity when installing SOSS hinges, which by the way are amazing and worth every penny. It's a bit funky and not particularly nicely made, and might need replacing after a few hinges, but it does work and it works perfectly.

This was a super timesaver and as it worked perfectly with the other parts it made for amazingly sharp/clean results. It's expensive for a piece of wood YES but all in all.........worth it.

I thought I ordered the wrong one...it's just THAT much of a pain in the butt to use. I never used it...looked at the directions and sent it back. Do yourself a favor and follow the alternate instructions for SOSS hinges...but the right size drill bit and do it that way. I installed 5 hinges that way and it works fine.

Worked ok, the screws had barely any thread so stripped out with hardly any effort. Be sure the Porter Cable guide is VERY tight and secure to your routers base, no movement at all.
