Excellent sturdy product replacing the worn out genuine item. Fit easily. No issue figuring out the fitment. The product is well built and it is obvious.

This trimmer head didn't work out for me. Yes it fits an Echo SRM 225 string trimmer well, and the head comes preloaded with some line. However, the trimmer head I received was sensitive to the point of releasing way too much line just by lightly touching the ground, or even the tall grass. The extra line would then get tangled in the shaft. Within a few minutes of use, the entire trimmer line was gone. I did reload it with my own line and tried again but with the same results. The good news is that it was easy to return and the refund, in the form of a gift card (my choice) was very rapid. Based on the comments, it seems that this trimmer head works for some, but it certainly didn't work for me. I subsequently purchased an original replacement Echo trimmer head, and that worked perfectly well. I cannot recommend this trimmer head.

After the original on my Echo trimmer I wound up getting some poorly designed head that you wrap two pieces around the spool. Well that thing, for me - and I even watched videos on proper ways to wrap the line - would almost always stop feeding the line considerably before running out requiring stopping and untangling the line that was wrapped across itself. I waited until I ran out of the line that came with this trimmer head so I could see how easily it was to reload. Very easy. One piece through the eyelets and turn. Working great. Feeds line without jamming and has eliminated all the cursing the constant jamming of the other one caused.

I'm triming about 6 acres a month. The OEM head lasted 2 years. I put the new head on in about 2 minutes, ran it for 3 hours, self fed the whole time. Super fantastic. If your struggling with line feed get this thing.

The only negative about this item is that it arrives in a box with absolutely NO instructions on how to install it. However, if you look out on YouTube, there is an excellent short video showing exactly how to install this item. It takes less than 60 seconds once you know the trick to stabilizing the head.

Very easy to change. Just snapped right in to replace it.

Mostly this is a great product. Wished I had replaced my old trimmer head long ago. This one would have paid for itself three times over in saved line. Installation is mostly easy. Loading is mostly easy. Operation is mostly better than the factory head. The problem I had is that the cap is attached by two spring loaded clips that are molded into the plastic. It can be very difficult to get them to snap securely back into place after removing the cap. If the clips don't pop securely into place, the whole thing will fly apart. I see only a few reviewers had this problem. I started sticking a couple short pieces of trimmer line behind one of the clips to help it pop out to where it grabs. So that's a bit of a hassle, but I suspect mine is an outlier and overall I love this product.

I had been running a speed feed 400 for several years and they work fantastic. I bought this because of PJW's review "GIVE IT A TRY". He was right, almost. Since I was replacing an old speed feed I was able to compare them side by side. This is the exact design of a speed feed 400 made by ECHO. The only difference is that the spool is slightly smaller. I run .095 line and I could not get the same amount of line in this. No big deal I did not measure it but I would say about a foot. The spool is smaller. Since I was familiar with the speed feed from ECHO it took less than 2 minutes to install. I did change to the taller bolt that came with the unit and it went on without a hitch. The review that said the eyeholes came out when replacing the line he was wrong. This unit is designed to replace the line without disassembly. He was doing it wrong. Line up the arrow with the top plate shove the line through, even it up and start cranking it into the spool. If you are a landscaper and need the extra capacity this may not be for you but then again the price is right. I ran a full set of line through it and it ran EXACTLY like the ECHO speed feed it replaced. PJW thanks for the review, when you wear out your speed feed buy this as a replacement.
