My son transitioned to hard ball, and this was the team recommended shirt. It works. It's not as fancy as the shirts with the hexs that individually separate to absorb the impact, but it appears to do the trick and protect him. It's also half the price of the shirts with the individually moving hexes. It seems breathable enough for him to still wear it in the 94 degree heat for the Summer games he's playing now.

Fits my child well and it's of good quality. I think it will be light enough to wear under a jersey in summer, and the padding is more than sufficient to soften the blow of a baseball.

We got the XS for my 5 year old who wears 5t and it fit well. Stitching isn’t great but it should be fine for the season

I'll get to what an excellent product this is, but first I want to strongly urge all baseball parents, coaches and league officials to understand that by simply purchasing this shirt (and yes, getting your ballplayer to wear it, which wasn't a problem for ours) you can prevent everything from a minor injury to an unspeakable tragedy from happening.As a baseball coach who for forty years has coached every level from semi-pro, wood bat and scout teams, to high school and all the way down to t-ball, I can tell you that our sport still has done little to protect players sufficiently, so it falls upon parents and coaches to take steps to prevent not just everyday injuries but most importantly the rare fatality from occurring.So if you're wondering if you should buy this very inexpensive, very well-made product, just search the internet for something like "baseball deaths in youth leagues". I can tell you from having witnessed more baseball games than probably any parent or grandparent or coach alive, while taking a really hard hit or pitch to the chest isn't an everyday event, every time it DOES HAPPEN, the outcome is beyond "not good". So please, act now so you won't regret it later.As to the quality of this product: simply stated, it's perfect, especially when you consider the price. And that's an assessment that comes from both an experienced coach and from his sometimes picky-about-what-he-wears grandson. From the moment he first tried it on we have never once had to remind him to wear it for every game and practice. And while I'm not a doctor, I can say that it sure appears to me that this protection would in fact, do something I would think to prevent the heart damage that occurs when a player gets hit in the chest - and for sure it will reduce the likelihood of a badly bruised sternum. I held the pad up to my chest and hit it really really hard and it seemed to absorb most all of the impact.Otherwise my grandson and his teammates love the look and the fit and the comfort, and I respect the workmanship and the price. At this very, very reasonable price it makes it easy to buy several so that there's always a clean one available for him to wear. And as far as sizing, my grandson is 8-1/2 and weighs around 60 pounds and the Small fits perfectly. There's no question that I'll continue to buy this product in larger and larger sizes as my ballplayer grows.All things considered, I can say that this is the best money I've ever spent for a piece of baseball equipment.

Bought this for my 8 year old son who has dysautonomic dysfunction and as an added way to protect any impact to his heart and chest. Figured this would be a run of the mill Amazon order. However I was suprised at customer service dedication this company has. They took time to reach out and leave me a voicemail along with numbers to call to ensure my happiness with the product. Not something I have ever gotten with any of my Amazon purchases. Ok so on to the actual product. As I said I was concerned about adding a layer of protection for my son's heart. This shirt is very light weight but the sternum shield is fairly large covering all the right areas. He's able to ground and swing without it getting in the way. It is well made the fabric is lightweight and breathable. The pad itself is about a 1/4 of an inch thick and it helps distribute a blow. The short does run long which is a bonus because it helps keep it tucked into the childs pants this is hardly noticeable under a baseball shirt or tee shirt. If my son decides to stay with baseball I know once he out grows this on we will be back for the next size and the next!

I was searching for a padded shirt for baseball after my son took a ground ball to the chest at practice last week. He left practice crying and refused to field anymore ground balls. I ordered this shirt.The fit was perfect. My son really liked the feel it. The size of the pad on the chest and the amount of padding seems just right .My son used the shirt for the first time this weekend and it was a huge success. Playing baseball in Florida is hot. I thought my son would complain about it but he didn’t. He really liked it. During practice a grounder took a bad hop and hit him in the chest, he was fine. He just kept playing and was playing with confidence.Overall, this is a great product and highly recommend for any baseball or softball player. It provides great protection and takes some of the fear out of the game.
