Your cart is empty.Spreader boot in leather from Waterline Design. A leather protection for your sails. Your sails are one of the most expensive part of your sailboat. You need to protect them. According to large mast suppliers the spreader tip is supposed to be soft so the sail doesn't chafe unnecessarily. Our combination of outside leather and inside neoprene padding makes it's perfect. In addition, they are also easy to mount. Just wrap the Velcro band around the spreaders. The Velcro is also covered with leather for the best UV-Protection. The softness and Velcro band makes them soft and easy to fit on all kind and brands of spreader. With only four different sizes, it's easy to choose the right spreaders for your boat. You need to measure the width of the spreaders. Measure them in the middle not the tip. You also need to know if you have continuous rig or linked rig. A linked rig has larger spreader tips and need a larger size. This is not 100% scientific but with flexibility in the spreader boot works perfect, it's easy and simple. With the Velcro band it's fast and easy to mount the spreader boot, done under a minute, even the first time. Plus it's super easy to remove for inspection of the rig. An inspection of the rig should be done at least once a year. The leather covered Velcro band is sewed so you can cut it to a appropriate length. The spreader boots are sold in pair.

I am giving these spreader boots a try on my 18' Catalina Capri. They are slightly large for the size spreaders I have, but have multiple layers of stitching on the velcro so it looks like a person could cut some of the extra off to trim it up neat. I have opted to leave my extra tail amount on and put a quick stitch through it so it wasn't flapping about. Sorry I don't have a picture to show, as the mast is up now. I like the look and heavy duty feel of the leather. So far, so good!

Look far better in my opinion then other options and a really simple install. The old style white plastic/rubber had disintegrating after a couple years and seem like better option.

These spreader boots work well and protected my sails. I repurchased them after two failed after just over three years in service. Plan to change out every three seasons.

Easy to install on spreaders with the mast down. Easier than plastic boots. They look good, too.

These spreader boots are well designed and constructed. I have some other items from Waterline which I really like and when I decided to refit my mast I noticed they had these. I think they are an excellent alternative to the lace on leather boots which eventually stiffen and can't be removed to allow inspection or maintenance. They are better than any other fabric/hook and loop item I have used in the past. They come sized to fit different configurations of spreaders. I ended up only needing the small size for both my upper and lower spreaders. The riggers working on the mast liked them as well.

This product works well for my particular spreader configuration. Perhaps not quite as durable as plastic spreader tip boots but very easy to install and remove.

This is a more elegant solution than the usual rubber spreader boots. Small size fit 1.5" diameter round spreader tips one our 33' boat. (Large Taylor boots were too small). Supplier promptly responded to size query. Been in use a month with no problems.
