I ran a 3 wire circuit 12/3 UF-B (but I put it in conduit for double safety) to my front and backyard (Red, Black, White, with ground), black wire for landscape lights (24 wall washer lights of 30w), red wire for 15 receptacles for outdoor Christmas light or party lights, music…., both red and black hot lines share 1 single neutral white, and I am using 2 outlet type GFCIs for protection of 2 different circuits, Also after the GFCI receptacles I installed 2 wifi on/off switches (I do not want these 2 circuits hot all the time, especially during heavy rain or storm, besides I can schedule time auto on/off). Anyway after all hard work of digging, insert cable in conduit (600 ft of conduit, 3 diff rolls of 250ft cables) , wire them, connect them and safety water seal all electrical boxes...tested with plug in tester pass on each receptacle, turn on lights (black wire) work great, turn on red wire still ok, but if I plug anything in any receptacle the gfci trip. I did a few troubleshooting, ran additional short white neutral from bar to gfci receptacle (so each gfci receptacle do not share neutral), disconnected the lines down stream so the 2 hots and neutral only serve 1 single light and single receptacle, draw both circuits to paper in detail and talked to many electricians (no one local knows what was issue), replaced with different new GFCI receptacles…whatever I do, status no change. Then I replaced both GFCI receptacle with regular receptacles then both circuits worked great. But outside outlets and lights without GFCI protection? No no no good. I started read more on GFCI receptacle and found that they will trip the circuit if imbalance detected btw hot and neutral…oh no, all these hard works for nothing? My 2 little daughters will look down on me, I can’t afford to see their sad faces…I researched on double poles GFCI breakers, and this is the answer for my solution…IT WORKS… hallelujah…I now plan to replace the first 2 receptacles with AFCI receptacles for more layers of protection (ordered but not arrived yet). Anyway I want to share my issue so if anyone out there ever run into this wiring problem don’t have to gone thru lot of time figures it out, if possible do not share neutral is the best of all, if you ever did and already ran cables, these double poles GFCI breakers is your life saver. Thanks for reading my review! God bless America!

Square D QC breakers are great. When upgrading our service, we replaced another brand despite the additional cost (couldn’t reuse the existing breakers meant replacing them all) but it was worth it. Some specialty breakers, GFCI, Arc fault, 2 pole, etc., can get pricey, but I QC breakers are top notch. In this current climate with everything costing more than it should and things in short supply, I struggled to find a 15A Two pole GFCI breaker for a new pool pump. Found plenty of 20, 30, 40 amp and higher at somewhat reasonable prices, but no 15s. Finally found one here on Amazon, but couldn’t stomach the price. I waited hoping to see it for drop in price, or become available from another seller. No such luck. Besides costing way too much, the breaker works perfect. I paid $50 too much for it, but at least it was available.

We used this to upgrade our 110 electric to 220 for a swimming pool filter when our original filter stopped working. This worked well, & was easily placed by my non-electrician husband (he knows how to install outlets, lights, etc., but is not formally trained).Just what we needed. We WOULD purchase this again, though I sure hope we don't ever need to.

I put a 3 wire circuit to my backyard (Red, Black, White, with the hots sharing the White neutral), and planned on using 2 outlet type GFCIs for protection. I am also using 3 wire to sub feed additional outlets. Well this will not work after I thought about it, and all the wire was already in place. You can not share the neutral on sub fed regular outlets from outlet type GFCI protection. The regular sub outlets will cause an imbalance in the neutral, causing the GFCI outlets to trip. So I installed this breaker instead, and used regular outlets everywhere. This fixed my wiring mistake, but for an additional cost since this breaker is way more expensive then a couple GFCI outlets.

I put this breaker in for a friend’s pool pump. Since then, not one person has been electrocuted and there were no longer any fires so, Five Stars!
