About this item

  • All-purpose foot switch to turn on and leave it on without keeping your foot on the pedal.
  • Maintained action - Press toe area to turn on, press heel area to turn off (see picture).
  • Includes 8-foot cable with 3-pronged piggyback plug.
  • 15 A, 125 VAC, SPDT (wired normally open).

The S420-1501 foot switch can be used to turn on and off electrical devices with a tap of your foot. Tap the pedal once at the front (toe) end to turn it on, then tap again at the other end to turn it off. You can remove your foot and it will stay on until you turn if off (like a light switch). Ideal for lighting, power tools, office equipment, and more. This foot switch is constructed with a steel housing and a solid steel shaft for added toughness. It has a 15-amp, 125 VAC electrical rating (which is the same as the wall outlet current in the US). The 15-amp rating far exceeds the 4-amp rating of common comparable models to make it very versatile. Includes an 8-foot cable and 3-pronged piggyback plug (NEMA 5-15 series). To hook it up to your device, simply plug the pedal into your wall outlet (US only), and then plug your device into the back of that plug, and the foot switch will now be in line with the device. Enclosure rating: UL/CSA/NEMA Type 1 and IEC 60529 IP20. For indoor use in dry environments. CSA Certified and UL Listed to US and Canadian standards. Size: 4.2" L x 3.4" W x 1.5" H, plus the cable. One year warranty on parts and labor. Made in the USA by The SSC Controls Company.

Foot switch is easy to use and allows my hands to be free for holding work piece. Seems to be built solid and should last over time. Good price too

Sturdy solid switch. I use it to toggle a floor-mounted bathroom heater on and off. Both switching actions are distinct. The metal construction makes me hopeful it will last longer than a Harbor Freight plastic unit that worked well but failed after about a year.

I use this attached to a shop vac when using a power tools. I attach to the ports of a table saw, mitre saw, sander, jig saw, etc. to collect saw dust.

As best I can tell, this foot pedal switch is made in the USA, and it shows. It is built very well with impressive tolerances and sturdiness. It has ZERO "sloppiness" in the switch and doesn't feel like a toy when you pick it up. It is textured on both sides to give it better grip to the floor and to your boot. This part may not mean much to other people, but one of the things I found impressive is the documentation. Who needs documentation for a foot pedal switch, right? Well, probably not many, but that's not my point. What impressed me was how well-written it is. I have 10+ years experience as a technical writer and of the thousands of electronics I have used, I can literally count on one hand the number of them that came with excellent documentation, complete with proper grammar and spelling. When you read documentation full of misspellings and errors, you wonder what kind of quality control that company has for the product itself. So the top-notch documentation that came with this foot pedal switch gives me a little insight into SSC Controls Company. If they cared enough about the "little details" such as proper and well-written documentation, it likely means they brought that same professionalism to the switch itself.Well done, SSC Controls!

Good quality build. Steel construction with hard rubber textured skid-stop on each side. 14/3 power cord with good quality molded piggy back plug.I had expected it to be a push-on, push-off unit, but it operates more like a rocker switch. You press near the top of it to turn on, and near the bottom of it to turn off. Simple and easy to use once you get used to pushing it forward or back in a rocking movement.

I received this foot switch the other day, and I simply love it. I'm working in stained glass now, though I used to be in IT, and before that I was an electrician holding Master Electrician licenses in 4- states, and so I knew what I wanted. I looked far and wide and found this SSC product and let me tell you, it is of very high-quality construction. I would HIGHLY recommend this for anyone who wants the added functionality and safety of a foot switch for any equipment they may use in their hobby or profession.

I ordered two of these switches and was very pleasantly surprised by the robust build quality of them. The cord is very stout, the plug is well constructed and the switch is much more heavy duty than I expected. I think this will last a life time. I was also pleased that the foot surface and the floor surface has nubby friction type coating. I use it to run my guitar amp and it sits on a hardwood floor and thus does not skid around. Good friction, but does not mar the floor. The rocker action of the switch works just fine and is easy to understand and use. The only thing that might bother some people is that the switch makes a fairly loud "click" when turned on or off. This loud click will definitely be heard in any room. For me it does not matter, but if you want a nearly silent switch, this is not it.

I have been a DIY remodeler in our homes, for many years and have a pretty well equipped shop with a very wide variety of power tools. And I can't believe that I have never thought about using this absolutely mandatory addition to my line up.Recently the power switch on my Delta Contractors Table Saw failed, in which it will not turn off. Since this excellent table saw is over 25 years old, I was not sure if I could find a replacement OEM switch and also was reluctant to go through the hassle of removing the old and installing the new, since this is a brute of a saw...very heavy, which might have made getting into the interior frame of the unit a bit troublesome.Upon searching online for remote switches, I found this, which I chose over other types of foot switches for a very good reason. When you are feeding wood though a table saw, the last thing that you want to do (for safety sake), is take your hands off of the two pieces that just went through the saw, which you have to do normally since you have to reach down with one hand to flip the switch to "off". That brings me to the second BIG consideration that a lot of these foot switches require constant contact with your foot, to keep them in the "on" position. But with a table saw you have to sometimes move around a bit, to feed larger items. The "constant contact" switches do not make good sense for that.So this switch is the absolute safest to use since you push your foot on the front of the switch pedal to turn it on, at which point you can move around while using your tool, and when you are done, you simply tap your foot to depress the rear of the switch, to turn it off. To me a MUCH MORE SENSIBLE AND NATURAL ACTION.I have now purchased two more of these to mate up with other power tools, and wishing I had thought about using one of these many years ago. I feel like my earlier practices could have been classified as "DUH".By the way, this is an excellent foot switch. Robust, sturdy, and built like a tank.
