I purchased this SST tubing straightener for an air conditioning job where I needed to run 2,000 feet of soft copper, but unfortunately, it didn’t perform as expected. The tool struggled to properly straighten the copper, leaving bends and inconsistencies. Worse, when tightened enough to hold the tubing securely, it ended up ovaling the copper, making it unusable for my application.While the concept is great, the execution falls short for HVAC work. A more refined design with better grip control and support for soft copper would make this a much more useful tool. As it stands, I can’t recommend it for similar jobs.

I have used the smaller and more expensive single size straighteners on the marker, but while they work well, you need a few of them to tackle every fuel or brake line tubing. I recently came across SST and found this model that can be used from 3/16 to 1” tubing! I’ve used soft copper rolled tubing for plumbing repairs and some NiCopp brake line and it functions just fine! Can be either thrown in a vise or bolted to a workbench. A well made tool that’s rebuildable!

I was skeptical at first, but after learning how to best use it I found that with a little practice, I could look down the line of hose as I pushed it in and see how to bend it. It was rewarding to be able to turn the big coil of pipe into a long straight pipe!It's a bit pricy, but well worth it in my opinion.Steve B.
