Perfect length to go up over and down around 2X4. Anything larger will not work with 1 chain.Well made..

Sturdy Stainless Foot Long Chains. Sturdy and well made – no sharp burrs or uneven welds, so they are easy on the hands and unlikely to nick ropes or wood surfaces that they may come in contact with. These chains would be good for closing fence gates, and add a lock for security. I like them for boating and sailing to secure the end of lines, since they will take a lot of abuse without chaffing like most lines. The chain is about a foot long (see pix) without the carbineers, and the chain is about ¼” in diameter, making it very strong, too big and strong for hanging most plants or bird feeders. I like these well made chains, and as such I rate them as 5*.

great pair of chains, I used these to hold pins in my tractor 3 point hitch, and they replace rusty regular steel chains, this is a big upgrade!

These are a couple of nice short chains for light duty rigging. 500is pounds isn't a lot in many settings, but is enough for all things household (almost) and many things outside heavy industry. The chains 'n stuff are shiny and purty. What I most like about these chains is the smooth finish. I've had issues with chains and shackles having seams that aren't comletely smoothed. Those seams are just enough to cause a problem with cordage (rope, monofilamnet line, etc.) because they concentrate force and the cordage fails right there at the seam. Annoying. This rigging doesn't have seams where they'll cause such a problem.

My sailboat has an anchor locker in the bow and I keep a small aluminum anchor (lunch hook) there for day trips. I have a much larger and heavier anchor we bring for cruising. It is more reliable for anchoring overnight, in a cove for example. But I want to avoid the extra weight in the bow if I don't need it. I am using the chain to secure the larger anchor to a large eye-bolt in a piling on the end of our pier. I can drag it onboard and attach it to the heavier anchor rode for those longer trips. I like that the chain is stainless and includes quick release shackles. I will find a small job for the other one, which is hanging in the lazarette waiting for duty.
