These are lightweight plastic balls, not metal. The "stainless steel" is just a paint or veneer coating on the plastic.

Love these however if you put outside critters like them too. One was stolen by a critter. So far I still have the other four. Just one has been critter nicked. They are fab. I can see why a critter would make off with one. LOL
