I've used shim stock, either brass/bronze or stainless steel, for many applications. This time it was used as a protection cover for a rectangular shaped steel pipe (for light structural support) with small areas corroded. Instead of attempting a far more expensive repair, I opted for a s.s. wrapping. Here is when this thin sheet was cut to size and applied with high performance adhesive. Works like a charm.

I plan to use this roll of stainless steel for sculptural assemblages. The 0.008" thickness (about twice the thickness of the aluminum used for soda cans) will work well and the 304 stainless will allow it to stay outside and not rust anytime soon.

I used this sheet stock to create some faux turbine exhausts in a model aeroplane. It worked perfectly and the results are great. It was easily cut with scissors, and I connected the ends to form rings/bands with a battery-powered spot welder. Mounting tabs are from the same sheet, bent by hand and attached again with the spot welder.The material arrives rolled, but has no memory and opens to be perfectly flat.

Smooth and shiny 304 stainless steel shim stock has many uses especially where corrosion resistance is important. There's nothing to complain about. It's as pictured and easily cut on a shear.
