It's decent. Arrived much sooner than expected, which was nice, and was surprisingly flat. The blade took 8 minutes to reshape, grind, sharpen and hone- pretty soft. Took an edge quickly and well, but needs to be sharpened very frequently.The other reason for giving it three stars, besides the poor blade and despite the solid construction, is that it answers to the name Stanley 102, but isn't actually the original Stanley 102. I don't mean that it's a knock off, rather that they redesigned, but didn't rename, so it's significantly wider (1/4inch overall) than the original 102. They're also saying that the blade is 1 3/8in wide- which it is... bit that leaves almost 1/4in of open space between the inside walls of the plane and the blade in the mouth. Either the blade needs to be wider or the mouth needs to be narrower. Also, there are a couple of companies who sell 102 replacement blades, at 1 3/8in wide (again, the width advertised for this plane), which means they're too narrow for this plane and because of the change from the old model, too wide for that one, meaning they have to be reground.Summary: decent plane, but if they were going to do such a dramatic redesign, they should also have renamed, and they blade is functional, but too soft and doesn't properly fit.
