Made in the USA high quality swivel socket from Proto. Need I say more?

Great swivel, tough and seems durable, I use it everyday so I’m putting it to the test. The only reason I only gave it 4 stars is this...the spring loaded ball that hold the socket in place is hard to push in there, which is great because you don’t want the socket to come flying off and hit you, but in the same breath kind of inconvenient to get the socket off. Equals out in my book I guess!

I am not sure what will break this thing. I am not even sure if any impact that uses 1/2” can break it. It is a fat little thing not designed for tight spaces, but if you are in a tight space then a 3/8” will suit you better. The pin detent has to be understood. It is designed to lock whatever you attach to it in place to not give you the worry about having a socket or extension sliding off with a ball detent. Proto makes industrial stuff, and I am willing to bet it would be pretty annoying to have an end piece slide off in the most inconvenient moment. This is my first adapter with a pin detent, and I think I will continue to look for adapters with it.

The ball bearing broke out in less than a month. Very disappointing for Proto.

Received mine broken or it did not have the locking pin but the joint is probably really heavy duty

I purchased this to use with a non-impact 1/2-inch socket set on the premise that it will be stronger than a universal joint made of chrome vanadium steel. This socket is thicker than I expected, but that is not the seller's fault. Additionally, I am keeping the socket, which appears well made and may come in handy despite its thickness.

While it is extremely well made and designed to handle serious torque, this is a monstrosity of a u-joint. The photograph on Amazon is deceiving. The actual 1/2" drive u-joint base is HUGE and almost twice as big as a standard 1/2" drive u-joint. This totally defeats the purpose of a U-joint, where I generally need to use one for a tight spot or awkward location. One the rear mount of my Cobalt SS Turbo, the exhaust flex tubing is in the way. A standard 1/2" drive U-joint wouldn't handle the torque needed to tighten that large bolt and would snap. I tried this well-made Stanley Proto joint, but it wouldn't fit because it is way too oversized. The Stanley Proto 3/8" drive impact U-joint is probably beefier than a standard 1/2" u-joint, but slim enough to fit into tight spots. If you don't have an issue with tight clearances and just want to crank away with massive torque in a slightly awkward location, this is the U-joint for you.Overall: 4/5 stars
