I use this pump for irrigating. I have several vegetable gardens, flower beds, shrubs and use it with combining my pressure washer cleaning the house siding, mancave, deck and vehicles. I am pumping 28 ft from the lake using multiple manifold station around my land. The farthest flower bed is around 250ft; I used 3/4 PVC pipe on this long run, the others is PVC and garden hose.Mark

So, the pump that I received was supplied with a 20/40 pressure switch. Advertising mentioned pressure up to 50 lbs. You will need a different switch if you require over about 40 lbs. The pump is nice in every way. I am hoping for a long service life. I will amend this review if there are any problems in the future.Right now, I would buy this pump again.11/23 I am buying this pump again. The first one hasn’t lasted as I’d hoped. The seal has blown and it is leaking severely.My main complaint is with Amazon because I clicked order while viewing a five day delivery time and my confirmation came with another seventeen days added to that and no explanation or the ability to question why. AI is not our fiend.

I've only had this pump running in a system for a couple of weeks now. So I cannot address longevity at present. I decided on this pump partly because it was advertised as mainly made in the US. And I like supporting locally made.The pump was delivered by UPS and as usual was not necessarily handled with care. Luckily the packaging is relatively robust to withstand even UPS handling. So everything seems in good order even though the box was slightly damaged.The installation was straightforward and everything so far has worked as expected. The only thing I've noted is that all indications were that the pump was set for 30/50 pressure on the switch. However, it was actually set for 20/40. So I needed to adjust it although the lower pressure may work better for me in the long run so I may adjust it back. I just have to adjust the pressure of the pressure tank accordingly.

This is a solidly built pump and motor. The Instructions were great and plumbing job was easy, as was the wiring. It only has a simple pressure switch and we are using it as a garden pump with a small pressure tank salvaged from another pump system (we are getting a bigger tank). I wished that it had another on-off switch so I wouldn't have to unplug it when done. Make sure you read the instructions on wire gauge vs. amperage requirements for the unit if you are supplying power from a long distance. I burned up a cheaper pump unit by having a wire size too small for the distance from power. This Star replacement pump works great!

I am replacing a 30 year old 1/2 HP Flint and Walling with a bolt on ejector. The bearings were getting noisy on an otherwise fine pump. The picture I bought it from shows a bolt on ejector that looks exactly like my old one but the purchased pump has an integral injector. If I had known they don't make a 1/2 HP with a bolt on ejector I woHowever,e purchased it a few dollars cheaper from e-bay. How ever, the purchased pump works great!

I had a flint and walling l/2 hp convertible pump before. So I ordered this one because the last one lasted 45 years. The old one had a separate part (can't remember it's name) This one was supposed to have a built in ejector, which we could not see. Anyhow, even a well guy could not get this pump to prime. We had to connect a handpump to the well, which brought int he water and then prime it finally after many, many hours of trying to do it the regular way. The well guy did not feel that this pump is a quality one. I thought it was. Didn't know Flint and Walling would produce junk. Anyhow, it is now working but I'm afraid if we ever have to prime it again, the same thing will happen.We'll see.
