I teach metalsmithing classes and I have needed these Starrett pin vises and finally ordered them. I do love them and we have already used them several times. The price was good and I can highly recommend them.

Quality Starrett tool, does exactly what it should. Used these for dozens of years in a tool & die shop. Definitely recommend.

Cant be used for drillbits. The essentially a collet only pinches the with the very tip instead of acting as a form of chuck. This causes the drill bit to have a nearly .125 to .25 inch travel at the tip of the bit.

I bought this to hold my silver streak wax lead for marking metal. it works great but it its not quite as long as the picture makes it seem. The lead hangs a little out the back. no big deal still works great feels chunky in my hand

Ordered these pin vices so that I could use them to chase holes out on circuit boards where I was not able to get all of the solder out of the holes. Works great smallholding the small drill bit so I don't damage the board.
