One popular use is in soap making. This is because it retains moisture well and allows the soap to create a velvety feel on the skin. It also allows the soap to set in a desired shape and can help retain its shape when used in water. It is also a very popular product in home candle making because it gives the candle a proper shape and retains the scent very well. Stearic acid melts when heated, but sets at room temperature, making it perfect for candle making. Our stearic acid is USP Food grade and packaged in a certified BPA free Ziplock styled bag. Our Stearic has no additives and the product is white. This allows it to be dyed or colored with ease.

This product had small debris and what looks like bugs in it. Thankfully, I only bought this to solidify used oil for easy discarding and disposal so it doesn't particularly matter if it isn't perfectly clean as long as it reacts properly, which it does for the most part. If I did need this for a food-grade or skin-safe project I would not buy this brand again, it does not produce smooth homogenous mixtures for things like soap, and again, it has noticeable impurities throughout (in admittedly small amounts), though I can only imagine what is also in it that I can not see as well. Overall I find this to be a tawdry product fit for the trash, which is technically/actually what I bought it for so I am overall happy. Though, I would NOT recommend it for anything else, especially food or skin related.

All’s well on the horizon. Great product, good pricing, fast shipping. These stearic acid (flakes) dissolve quickly in vegetable oil or triglycerides at 200F. I will continue to buy from this vendor.

There seemed to me a shortage of stearic acid when I needed to order last and my normal supplier was out so I got this. I’m not a fan. It takes a ridiculous amount of time and heat and stirring (even stick blending in hot oil) to get this stuff to melt. I’ve NEVER had that issue before. Annoyed now I bought so much. :(

This is a LOT of stearic acid, so likely enough for me for a couple of years. It's good quality however, and does melt up perfectly, flows great, and adds nothing unpleasant. It just does what it's supposed to do which is to thicken up lotions and harden soaps. It doesn't take much either.
