It writes very well, but I wish it was sturdier. Being pure graphite it's quite brittle. First one came broken in half.The replacement came intact, but cracked during the first dive trip just from a little stress from the slate pencil socket.I have not even took it out once during the actual dives, it was sitting in my BCD pocket.Getting back to golf pencils, I am afraid ;-) The idea behind buying this was longevity, but the brittleness of pure graphite (even wrapped with the plastic) goes against it. Thicker plastic cover might have helped.

Haven't used it yet, but it looks like it will be ok. Appears to be solid graphite, so there is no wood to swell.The plastic outer layer should protect the graphite and make the pencil durable.

This pencil is far superior to the wooden "golf pencils" that are typically supplied with underwater tablets. Those wooden pencil quickly absorb water and then split or break.This replacement pencil is 100% graphite and NO wood. The graphite is covered in a tough plastic that is immune to water absorption. It holds it point very well and is easy to sharpen. No more replacing the wooden "golf pencil" every other dive.
