Aquila Sugar Ukulele strings are made from a material made from biomass plastic material derived from sugarcane. It has a high transparency appearance and is very smooth on the surface, but still gives you a firm touch feeling.
The sound combines sweet, rich sound with nylon strings and fluorocarbon strings with both clarity and response. In addition, it is easy to hang vibratoes, and it expands the range of playing expressions. It is also a new string that has been proven to have a better sustain than the ukulele string on the market by scientific measurement to produce more sound passing through.

These sounded fun the first few days. I was still trying to get them to stay in tune on day 3 when I noticed groves in them already from the frets!on Day 5, I snapped a string.I only play about an hour a day but I play Metallica, AC/DC, etc. lots of pull-offs. These would probably be good for the casual strummer, but if you are finger picking or play anything other than strum songs, these will not last.

These were basically rotting out of the box. Aquila’s other strings are fantastic. Just missed the quality with these sugar strings

ナイルガットと違って伸び続けないので使いやすいと思います。持ちわかりません。

I changed the stock high G strings on my new Kadence Mahogany concert ukulele with these strings. This was my first time at changing strings. So, I broke the G string at first attempt. Somehow with perseverance I was able to put the strings again on second attempt. Be patient and careful while changing the strings. Start with very lose setup first and tighten the strings slowly when tuning while checking the string tension constantly. It took me more than hour to tune the uke. But finally after a lot of labor I was successful and now my 37$ Kadence has a much richer sound than my 60$ Kala Makala! It sounds more like a guitar now :)

I’ve used the standard Nylgut and greatly prefer the reds. I thought I would give the sugar a try in low G. This review mostly is to contrast with the reds. I am a novice player who has played daily for the last 6 months.Tuning: I have had these in for about 2 hours now and they might be coming into tune soon I hope. These are very STRETCHY strings. I have been adjusting the A,, and especially the C strings every 5 minutes for 2 hours now. By adjusting, I mean like a full turn of the peg. You can really feel just how stretchy they are by pulling on them, the do not seem to fully relax.Feel: These strings are quite thicker than the reds, maybe about the same as the white Nylguts. They have a bit of a rubbery feel to them compared to the reds, and so far they feel a tad more forgiving when strumming.Sound: they sound a bit duller than the reds, not as bright, especially on the A string. The sustain seems to be about the same. They just do not seem as loud, not sure how to describe it, “ker-chonkey” and muted. The other aspect of the sound is they squeak on your finger pads of your picking hand. Not just the wound-G but the A E and C, just a subtle squeak that is quite noticeable if you are not used to it.I felt the reds transformed my ukulele, and these transformed it back into what it was before. I will likely swap back to reds after seeing how these perform over the next few weeks.Durability: They do seem a bit more durable. The reds are quite thin, especially A and E, and they were starting to “burr” at the first 3 frets after a few months. The Low G seems to be the same string (diff color) with the sugar and reds. The Low G wears out quite quickly, maybe 6 weeks until it’s worn at the first 3 frets and starts to buzz more easily with daily playing. I have cheated and left some slack in the G string, restringing and repositioning the wear points to avoid the buzz.If buying these strings, I would recommend a few low-G extras as it is going to wear out faster.

Such a beautiful rich sound! I have tried the Reds from Aquila and these were better. I would recommend these no problem!

The C string took a few weeks to settle down but has been ok since then. The squeaking other reviewers have eluded to is unworthy of mention.

These strings are fantastic and they really boost a muted/dull sounding ukulele. The strings are very bright and they have amazing sustain especially noticeable on high frets. The strings also get in tune and stay in tune very quickly. Since I live in the south I have tried going from air conditioning to 100 degrees + high humidity and the strings stay in tune. These are great strings, but they do have a squeak initially, however; it goes away over time. The squeak is only present if you have very dry skin. I wash my hands a lot because I don't like having oily hands but my daughter who plays ukulele too has very soft hands and the strings don't squeak at all when she plays. Essentially, by playing on these strings over time the oil from your hands will coat the strings and the issue subsides. I also think the stings are not as hard on your fingers as the Nylgut strings and they seem less abrasive. This is most noticeable when finger picking with the pads of your fingers.

The strings are as expected, although I am more impressed in sound by flourocarbons as it turns out. Still, these strings are nice and will sound lovely on many ukes.

Love these strings sounded great on my concert, though I’m not keen on the wound g be careful when putting it on if you can avoid the ends of the strin if pulled while at tension it can lead to the metal to come away from the string. Would describe as crisp and lyrical with a great sustain compared to standard nylgut. Beware the low g may also not last as long as a normal g string does.
