This is actually real nickel strip. I had a scathing review all ready to go if it said real nickel strip and it was plated. Did a saltwater test for 2 days and not a lick of rust on it. It fits in 18650 cell holdes as well. Don't buy it all, I want some more.

I try to price-shop this stuff, which inevitably leads to buying some that's a little too cheap, which means I've gotten burned with nickel-plated steel sold deceptively as "pure nickel" a few times.This stuff is the real deal. I did the usual saltwater test on a small piece, which has always caused the counterfeit stuff to rust heavily within 24 hours. This has been soaking for 72 hours and still looks brand new (minus the scuffing I did to cut through the plating layer, if it would have had one).

I got this strip to rebuild power tool 18650 battery packs and it seems to work well. Good, clean welds and appears to be the stated thickness. I have no doubt that this strip will perform well for this purpose.

I let this soak in salt water for a week and no rust. It's pure nickel. Don't trust testing nickel by grinding on it because certain grinding wheels will spark on pure nickel. It depends on the stone but the nickel won't throw sparks but the nickel will cause certain stones to throw sparks. And nickel is magnetic so using a magnet doesn't prove anything. The only sure way of testing it is salt water. If it's nickel plated steel the salt water will turn it red within one day. These strips are pure nickel.
