These Sumnacon Stainless Steel Mending Plates are useful to have on hand for building and repairs. Whether something around the house is starting to break or has already broken, or something new is being built to address an issue or solve a problem, mending plates are almost always helpful in creating strong and secure connections between parts. These mending plates are 4" x 2", with 6 offset holes and screws per plate, and a black finish. They are a good size for 2"x4" boards and larger. While boards can always be attached together without the use of mending plates, using them can often lead to stronger final connections and longer lasting solutions.

I'm giving these mending plates 5 stars, which means they are excellent in quality, function, and fit. Or, fit in this case is consistency so they can be used in a repetitive process without variations in the product messing up your process. The mending plates are 2 sided -- the back side which is un-polished, but flat. And the front "show" side which is polished, protected by a plastic cover, and has counter sunk screw holes. The included screws are of standard quality and were not magnetic, so assumed that they are actually stainless.I plan to use these mending plates to reinforce some joints on outdoor wooden furniture in a marine environment. After inspecting them, I believe they will hold up. After some time of use, I'll try to remember to update this review.There are 2 areas that this product could be improved in my opinion. They shipped in a small plastic bag. The plates and screws came stacked up on each other and the plastic bag allowed the plates to rub against one another in shipping, resulting in some scars on the plastic covering. However, the scratches did not penetrate deep enough to scratch the product's polished surface. So, "no harm, no foul".Also, the plastic is somewhat difficult to pick off the surface. The plastic film is very thin and tears as one tries to peel it off. A thicker covering would provide more protection and maybe wouldn't be so fussy to remove.Overall, an excellent product that meets or exceeds my expectations!

I want to use this to strengthen every joints of 2x4 base for my mobile solar panels mount. Before I do that, I tried a bend test like for smartphones.... it passed. I have the confidence that this should hold form, and will provide reliable backup to stiffened the wood from out of shape.
