What an awesome bell!! It really reminds me of old school bells more than a dinner bell, but that's not a problem in any way. ;) The sound it makes when rung is beautiful, rich and clear, and definitely able to produce a loud ring if you want.As it's cast iron it is also nice & heavy. The bell comes with a small hook you can mount on a wall, cupboard, etc. This is nice, as the ringer is longer than the bell, so it doesn't want to sit on a flat surface very well on it's own. Still, NO problem with that here!!Great gift for a teacher I'd wager as well, if you know one...

This arrived today and I was very pleased with how easy it was to put together, the handle and clacker simple screwed together and the mounting hardware was perfect to put it on the wall. I love the rustic feel of the bell. It reminds me of my grandfathers ship bell, but much smaller. It is loud enough to startle my dogs, which means it will be loud enough for the whole house to hear. Getting everyone to come to dinner will be much easier now.
