I don't use heavy loads on this, but it's nice to have. Side panels are nice if I decide to get a bag. My only complain is that sometimes I tap it with my foot when mounting my bike and it will shift a little and rub against my tire. I think a piece of thin rubber may solve this problem. As a side note the tension screw and latch is silver and it only seems logical that it would be black with this unit. Oh well..

Sadly this rack couldn't stand the test of time. it worked well in the beginning, but eventually the welds tore open on the main tube. this was mainly because i only used one pannier so the system was under a heavy torque load regularly, but failure at the weld points was unfortunate. its a good rack, but made with cheap aluminum, hence the price. if you want a rack to last you forever, look elsewhere. if you want a good cheap rack for a season or two, this is it.

Last week I placed an order with Amazon for this product, the Rear Beam Rack. It was stolen off of my bike less than a week after I purchased it. The main problem lies in how poorly this product attaches to the bike seat rod; it can very easily be taken off, without much difficulty. Why did the manufacturer design it so poorly, so that anyone passing by can just unscrew it by hand? Why didn't they design it with an allen wrench screw on both sides, making it difficult to steal? I'm very disappointed in this product, as it was a terrible waste of money, and in the 6 days since it was in my possession I didn't even have a chance to use it properly. Shame :(

This is very handy to have but can be a pain. This is a great addition to have to carry a few things on your bike. This tends to pivot sometimes and rub the tire. I don't know if this is avoidable with any type that does not attach in more then in one location.

Like the other reviewer said, this is a great rack. The heaviest load I've put on it so far is only 2 12 packs but I know it'll take more since it's load rated for 25 pounds but it looks solid enough to hold 30 or more since it's all metal, the true limit would be how much mass the post clamp could take before it failed. If the other 2 bikes didn't already have racks, I'd be looking at getting another one or two :-)

I can't even begin to explain how much crap I have loaded onto this rack. Including cases of beer, tool boxes, laundry baskets, my saddle bags fully loaded with groceries, pretty much anything I would throw in the trunk of a car if I had one. This is one tough rack. Despite it being a seat post rack it has held up much better and stronger than my avenier rack with support bars. The welds and tubing on this thing are solid. I would probably sit a small person on this thing, although I haven't actually tried that.

I have a Dahon 26" folding bike so there is no rack capability on the frame. This Seat Post Rack is perfect - I have used mine for hundreds of miles. It's easy to attach and detach and it's very sturdy.

This does what it is supposed to and it is a reasonable value for the price, but could be better. The angle between the seatpost clamp and rack means that on many bikes the rack will not be close to level. The workmanship on my example was so-so, the welds were not great and the rack is kind of uneven. I do like the fact that it also functions as a fender.
