I've owned three of these "turbo" ovens. When they work, they are great because they don't use a lot of energy and don't heat up the kitchen. My first one, from Betty Crocker, lasted about 15 years. The second, a Supentown, lasted about five years. This latest, Supentown model SO-2000, lasted three years. For some reason, Supentown changed the bowl on the newer model and made it a few millimeters smaller --- unfortunate because the bowl is now too small to properly accommodate an 8x8 inch Pyrex pan, which I use to make casseroles, brownies, etc. (actually, it's a very tight fit, so tight you can't remove an 8x8 with the supplied tongs and of course you need to use the tongs if it's hot). I went out to storage and retrieved the glass bowl from the older model, which I'd saved, and placed it in service. The pans can be easily removed now, but the lid is a poor fit. Another criticism, mirroring others, is that the lettering on the lid rubbed off so now can't see temp range or time range when setting cooking parameters: I just have to guess about time and temp settings. The fan stopped working on the unit's three-year anniversary -- gummed up bearing. I'm going to try another brand, hoping for a bigger bowl and a longer lasting fan.

Saw Mr.T's infomercial for Nuwave tabletop oven & it looked good. I comparison shopped and found this similar Sunpentown cost less. So I bought the Sunpentown and it sucks, not cooking food through even after extended cooking time. The Nuwave has 3 heating methods: conduction, convection, & infrared (radiant). Sunpentown only has two, conduction & convection, without the infrared radiant heat which makes tabletop ovens superb. I tossed my Sunpentown and bought a Nuwave, which works excellent! Nuwave makes the very best burgers, steaks, veggies etc. because the infrared heat browns the food like a bbq grill. Also it's quick, easy to clean, doesn't use too much power, and doesn't heat up your kitchen like a range oven. Doesn't smoke up your house like a George Foreman grill either. I should've taken Mr.T's advice from the start.

This product works very well and cooks as advertised, what I love about this is..it does not use the electricity my oven does, does not heat the house like the oven. cooks food well, ease of use, but the 1 Con is, it could have a slightly larger capacity in the cooking bowl.I highly recomend this item for people who live fast lifestyles and likes the convinience of freezer food cooking or people who live in small kitchen spaced appartments.

I bought the SO-2002 model before returning it and getting this 2000 one. I used the SO-2002 and it broke on me in less than a month. Though that may give one pause to buy another machine from the same maker, the fact is my mom and mother-in-law both have the SO-2000 models and it's worked great for them. I only bought the 2002 model because I liked the option of having the automatic on/timer function... and the nano-technology cooking seemed like a plus. But really, I never used the timer/auto "on" function and probably would not have done so if I was honest with myself. I mean really, that would involve leaving food out for hours if I left for work and then came home 8 hours later.Anyhow, I think there's a design defect with that 2002 model in that the handle is a "pull straight up and push down" handle, whereas the 2000 model has a pull at an angle and push down at an angle feature. I just found that when I pushed the 2002 handle straight up and down, it seemed to get confused as to whether the machine was on or off, when I had it in the on position. The mechanism for the on position just didn't seem like it was triggering properly. I think the vibration of the oven, when it cooks possibly, could have shaken the handle loose and thus caused the machine to go off on its own. I kept having to push the handle back down to get it on again. Finally, the 2002 just gave out on me entirely. I'm curious if anyone else has had that experience. With this 2000 model, I think the triggering mechanism to turn the machine on is more prominent and thus it knows better when to be on. I've had no problems so far with it turning off on me in the middle of cooking.Overall, a decent machine. I don't know if there are better machines out there. I just saw the infomercial for the Flavorwave last night... maybe the Flavorwave has better features (such as better cooking guide) but the SO-2000 seems to have the same capability as the Flavorwave and for a better price. I use it only to cook (grill/broil) meat like Korean BBQ short ribs so far. It's great for that!

This is my 4th Infared oven, they work great but dont last too long. I also use my oven as least once a day. What I did was charge this one with my Amazon Visa, increasing my warranty to 2 years. Don't think it will last that long, enabling me to get my money back or a new oven when it does burn out. Nothing makes better chicken or burgers ( i have an outside grill too) then this oven !

I bought one of these after reading lots of reviews. My parents have had back and knee surgeries and aren't able to get out a lot so the cooker was an early Christmas present for them this yr. I found that in most reviews customers had trouble with the domes cracking to pieces. You can rest assured the only way the Sunpentown cooker dome cracks is if you drop and break it. It's made of the thickest glass that I've cooked with. My parents told me it cooks really fast. Fact it it saved Thanksgiving this yr. Their oven had been tied up for 2 1/2 hr and the turkey was not even close to being done. My dad removed it and used the cooker for the first time. The turkey was fulley cooked in a short time, and also freed the oven to do other things. They're very pleased and I'd recommend it to anyone. Check reviews and you'll see this one is the best.
