I find this slightly smoother than a 57. And, it can be hung over a guitar cab, and positioned in front of the speaker eliminating the need for a mic stand. I haven’t compared, back to back with a 609 though, so that might be better sounding. Depends what you are after. I find it isn’t as articulate as a 57, but tames the spikey top end some guitar rigs tend to have. I have used this product live several times, for myself, and doing sound for others. I like it. And it’s inexpensive and feels fairly robust.

Lätt att hänga framför högtalare, bara att vira kabeln runt förstärkarens handtag på rätt längd. Låter i mina öron utmärkt och funkar både i studion och på scen

A heads up would be that this mic works very good with instruments and not sogood with voice . The sound I was getting running this to a sound board was very goodespecially for the price.

I have small home setup. Have slight locker building, Shure 57, 58B, Audio Technica condenser, others, Ableton, been around a bit, I've got a reputation for being loud, this will do just fine, sounds ok, you wouldn't say sounds bad. You won't. I mounted it for fun immediately to my table just to plug it in, clear, loud, bass, treble responses OK... You'll do well buying one.

This mic worked just as needed, and for an amazingly low price. I'm using it to mic my guitar amp thru the PA. I've used it extensively at my home studio, played thru my Bose PA, and it sounds natural, with no noticeable coloration or EQ. I've played a hollow body jazz guitar, a semi-hollow, and a strat, and the sound is good for each. So far I've played one gig with it, with the mic just draped over the amp and sitting on the amp fabric, and plugged into a small mixer and powered JBL speaker. It sounded good to me, with the same lack of coloration and neutral sound. I haven't added any EQ or reverb to the mixer/PA sound (I use some reverb and echo on my guitar amp). So far it exactly meets my needs, at very little expense.

great mic. the clip / stand / holder thing it came with doesn't seem to fit much, but you can mostly hang it from above your amp.only problem... exposing how weak my amp/guitar tone is!! not going to magically make you sound like your favorite recordings, and there's a certain art and magic to recording guitars as it is. i was using a SHURE PG48, which is more of a PA/live vocal mic, and this definitely works a lot better, but also isn't a thing of magic. be sure you have some kind of preamp/mixer and USB setup. great value and fun for playing around with as a hobbyist. by all accounts it seems to hold up in a studio environment as well, but be warned you are not going to get magic tone from your practice amp / bedroom rig with this mic alone.

I came across these while looking for additional Sennheiser e609 to add to my studio. At $109 a piece new I was ready to pay over $200 for two e609. Then I saw these Superlux PRA-628 MKII for $59 so thought it might be worth a look.I just recorded with one yesterday and it sounded great on typical overdriven guitar with really smooth presence. A little less pronounced mid notch than a SM57 (but still there). A little less highs than the e609 but not necessarily a bad things. The overall tone was really balanced and sat well in the mix without any major EQ changes, but sweeping through the frequencies the content is there to tweak.I like that I now have a 3rd go to mic for guitar recording and will likely use for all my rhythm track work from now on.Will be purchasing more of these for harp recording as well.

The microphone doesn't seem to react neutrally to dinamics, meaning that louder sources will react differently to less loud sources.. for instance, when tracking a snare drum from up close, it will deliver a sharper spike at the transiant then farther away, or then using a different microphone as let's say a SM57. That "unnatural" sharp transient though, will punch through the mix better if this what you need. The high mids are front and this tendency is accentuated on transients. But for 50$ it is a really nice microphone and very versatile. I wish there was a -10db switch on it. I recorded voice with it and, though not being a 5000$ Neumann, it can deliver surprising results, and is I nice alternative microphone choice for creativity in the studio. I like it a lot!

I was looking to buy a sennheiser e609 for guitar recording, but I happened to stumble upon this mic. After listening to some sound reviews, I saw that it was similar enough to the e609, so I decided to give it a shot. I'm pretty happy with the results I get, I use this combined with a condenser or ribbon mic, even alone it sounds great. I like that I don't need to use a stand either, can just let it hang over the amp. Not hard to drive either, doesn't require so much volume from my preamps. My only complaint is that the clip it came with is really hard to put on, so I don't even bother taking it off.

Great Mic - by adjusting the positioning on my 1x12 I can get different tonal qualities in the PA mix... Great sound quality for the price, and its pretty rugged too.
