Don't know why I didn't buy one of these 5 years ago, I love to cut my grass on my Gravely zero turn, but the stiff suspension just kills my back. I believe I could sit on an egg with this suspension and not crack it mowing the yard.

I've been wanting a better ride for my ZTR as my yard is rough. I looked at the seat/air ride combos but they're like $600-700! I have a good seat so i thought i'd try the seat suspension kit. This one was highly recommended by some reviews so i thought i'd try it first. came quickly. it's heavy. the directions are of no help. lots of seats listed, finally found my kit but no real directions. just an exploded view of how the kit is put together. had to do some drilling (4 holes), which is fine. and had to buy 4 longer bolts than what the kit came with. but after all was said it done, the seat rides AWESOME!I'll say this.......1st - take bottom plate off kit (6 bolts). 2nd - bolt that bottom plate of kit to your ZTR plate (4 bolts, no drilling for me here). 3rd - bolt your seat to kit (4 bolts, including spacers provided. i had to buy longer bolts for mine). The floppy, plastic cover comes off and re-attaches easily for better access. Lastly, bolt seat/kit to the bottom plate of kit using those 6 bolts you took off in step one.Was initially aggravating, took 2 nights, and some extra hardware but man the ride is sweet!

Fit perfectly on my eXmark Quest 42" Zero-Turn mower. I've never had back problems, but my mower came with a fixed seat, bolted directly to a thick metal plate, that is hinged to allow access to the battery. It took me a while to realize that every time I used the mower, my lower back felt like I need to go to the ciropractor for an adjustment. When I discovered that these "seat floats" were available, I had to try one. I looked at dozens of models before deciding on this one. The main reason I picked this one is because it has springs and gas struts, not just one or the other. I think just springs would be too bouncy, like Oliver Douglas riding the tractor on 'Green Acres'.Anyway, this one bolted right on. I used all the existing holes in the mower seat, which bolted to the slots on this unit, and they aligned perfectly. Then I bolted the unit, with the seat attached, to the seat plat on the mower. There was plenty of nuts, bolts and washers too. It took about 30 minutes and one band-aid. Something on the mower had a burr that got a knuckle. As for how it performs...I've mowed the yard three times since I bought it and I can say that I no longer feel like I need to go to the ciropractor after mowing the yard. It is very comfortable. The knob on the front adjust the firmness of travel up and down and can be adjusted by your weight. II weigh 178 lbs. and I have it about mid-way, so it dosen't bottom out as I'm hitting rough spots in the yard. It does raise me up about four or five inches, but I still have clearance between the steering arms and my legs. The track is adjustable forward and back like a car with manual seats.I'm very satisfied and if it will last as long as the mower I will be very happy.

Installed it on a Kubota B2301 tractor but had to remove it because it adds 6 to 8 inches of seat height which made it difficult to reach the pedals. I am not going to return it because it did what it was supposed to do but I have removed it and will probably trash it.

I bought this for my 24 yr old Exmark, and it has transformed my mowing experience, lol. I should have done this yrs ago, but was ignorant about suspension seats. You don't miss what you don't have. Only negative is that the instructions left a lot to be desired. But patience and blue color skill wins the day. Love this quality as well. Just be aware that this will raise your seat 4", so make sure you have adequate clearance for the hydro steering bars, and also that your feet will make contact with your foot rest. I had to build mine up with 4 x 6 blocks of wood and it works perfectly. Just for the record, I have been a General contractor for 36 yrs, so I'm pretty handy at figuring things out and getting them done. But if you have common sense, you'll do just fine.

So this seat base has good adjustability and works to dampen a rough ride quite well; no complaints there. The problem is with side to side motion. When sitting in the seat you not only move up and down but you also rock side to side. Really unnerving when going around a turn. It feels like something is loose but I bought 2 of these and they both have the same problem.

Installation: on the hustler x one was pretty simple. We had to drill out two holes on the frame which was easy. The only complicated portion was we decided to replace the existing seat tracks with the new ones that came with the seat and we had to use the provided spacers so the track cleared the seat properly.Performance:The seat sits up several inches higher of course so be prepared for a different sitting position than Normal in relation to the controls. the mower is much nicer to ride now and so much smoother and less fatiguing from hitting bumps and tree roots and things.Value: For the price it’s definitely well worth the improvement if you don’t have any suspension alread. It is only a small fraction of the cost of an entire name brand suspension seat.
