Excellent quality for the Price. Image holds sharp over most of the field and minimal refocus needed with zoom change.Focus knob works smoothly and easy even with gloves on for cold day.Case in is wonderful, well designed good fit and function for everything except rotation of ocular to other than vertical position. I just leave the case on for storage and use.Really don't think you can touch the bang for the buck without spending 5x or more. Also my regular telescope ocular work great as a bonus.

Great optics for the price. Compared it to my Vortex Razor and it stood up well. Just as sharp, but colors were a bit dull. Chromatic aberration was well controlled. Way better than my friends vortex that cost a bit more than the Svbony. Hard to believe how good it is really.

I love this scope. Being my first scope, I didn't want to spend too much and this exceeds all the marks! I primarily use it for birding and it has really helped increase my ID range. I can ID waterfowl clear across the lake that I frequent. It has also allowed me to ID all kinds of sea ducks that were out of range of the binocs. While the view at the far zoom range is not the best, it still works well enough to get a confident ID. I have no problem with the weight as I have carried it (with the tripod) 6+ mile treks. I usually just rest the tripod on my shoulder with the scope on the tripod. I also had a minor accident that caused the eyepiece relief to break after only having it for a couple of weeks. I emailed SVBONY about it (inquiring about purchasing a new eyepiece) and they sent me a new eyepiece for free!!! And the customer service rep was SUPER NICE! I highly recommend this scope for people looking to increase their range and don't have the budget for a high end scope.

I put this up against a 20 year old Smith & Wesson, a Celestron and a Gosky (of same general specs) .Obviously, it was better than the S&W, much lighter, as they all were. The SvBony was better than both the Gosky and Celestron - same target, same time, side by side. It was a clearer, crisper edge to edge view at 20. At 60 it was also better than the other two for clarity. I even put the outside into focus and see if the center is in focus and the Bony was best. Sort of a reverse focus test of sorts. I also REALLY like the ability to put my telescope eye pieces into this, although, compared to the zoom that it came with, the higher mags are about the same, the 32mm will give me a wider field of view, which is nice for long distance. I'm happy with the SvBony.

Very good image quality, even at highest magnification. The image doesn't appear to soften towards the edges of the eyepiece like many scopes. Chromatic aberration is well-controlled. The colors seem natural. The build quality seems adequate for the price. The soft case, while probably the best-designed I've seen, still isn't my thing so it went back in box. Included image was digiscoped with my phone at 60X. I am a believer in SBVONY...exceptional quality at bargain price. I recently started buying some of their eyepieces and diagonals for my 2 telescopes and my experience convinced me to buy this spotting scope.

It has high magnification and it requires a good, steady tripod. The optics are good but the sharpness controls are a bit clumsy. I like the fact that SVBONY provides several oculars (lenses/zooms) that can change the magnification and expand the usefulness area. SVBONY also provides digital cameras that can replace the ocular. The control of the camera through the phone app is cumbersome as the app leaves a lot to desire. Overall it is a good product.

After evaluating a smaller 12x55mm monocular for basic astro, I decided to buy the SVBONY ED monocular, specifically for astro viewing/smartphone photo usage. I had ordered a competing device also but had to return (severe packaging damage etc). This SVBONY scope was very nicely packaged in shrink-wrapped box. Well balanced on a mid-range sturdy tripod (K&M 22 lb capacity). As mentioned in another review, the included documentation was very disappointing (compare with detailed info on amazon site). SVBONY should include a detailed guide with ALL specs.Weight: 1.6 kg. (3.5 lb)FOV (my measurements):20X: 1.91°40X: 1.23°60X: 0.95°Photos shown are first attempts using a Samsung S23 Ultra phone with main camera (W X1) with manual exposure in either Pro or Expert Raw mode. A premium rigid camera adapter was used. For the planet views (Jupiter and Saturn) X60 zoom on SVBONY plus ~ 2X digital zoom on phone.Amazon info claims resolution is 2" (arc) compared to 1.5" theoretical resolution for 80mm lens alone. Pretty decent claim. By eye, double star Mizar (14") was easy to split (and photograph with care) as well as 4 main stars in Orion "trapezium". My visual estimate of resolution of SVBONY + S23 Ultra main camera is ~ 3".The ED gives a very decent view with minimum but noticeable aberrations (compared to non ED devices) .. but astro use is the acid test of optics. For an ED monocular less than CAN $500 .. it is to my eyes very good value.

The fine focus knob on the duel focus system of my SV406P wasn't working because an internal ring was not tightened properly. See pictures for how to fix it.You may have difficulty in unscrewing the the fine focus knob because the piece that it is threaded onto also moves. Holding the course focus knob in place provides some counter force, but it might not be enough. What worked for me was to rotate it very quickly, flicking it in the counter clockwise direction. I guess the inertia of the inner piece gave just enough counter force.

After just a few days using this scope I'm incredibly impressed with the image quality. Immediately I was able to see very sharp details--during the day a fine wired electric fence being eyed by a coyote from 1/2 mile away, and then the rings of Saturn and the moons of Jupiter by night. No distracting chromatic aberrations, the ED glass is definitely doing it's job. Focusing is easy, and the zoom control works well--once I figured out how to use it...Which brings up the only real negative: there is essentially no User Guide provided with this scope. For a product that uses such intricate bits and pieces I am quite surprised and somewhat disappointed. The scope arrives in a well protected box with the scope body and the eyepiece separately packaged. The single sheet entitled "Instructions of SVBONY Spotting Scope" has warnings of what not to do ("Don't look at the sun..."), examples of what it can be used for ("Animals observing...") 2 sets of very generic drawings showing "Product structure" and "Diopter adjustment." I imagine the drawings apply to every spotting scope in Svbony's line, and don't show any specific feature applicable to the SV406P. That's it.I stared at the eyepiece and the scope body, never having used a spotting scope before, and was completely uncertain of how to fit the 2 parts together. I figured it out, I think, but still am unsure if I got it right. Who knows...There is nothing listed on the company's website under product support. So...enjoy this scope, but be forewarned you're on your own with learning how to use it.

As described. Very sharp corner to corner with the extreme corners having a slight jelly bean on stars (not the intended use but an acid test for any scope). Used on the super moon and just the slightest bit of false color at high magnification. Daytime use is a joy. Didn't notice any false color and images were very sharp matching much more expensive scopes like the Vanguard I used to have. Even at the highest magnification very useable but you better have a good tripod. I married it to a carbon fiber fiber with a Manfrotto fluid head with good results. Focus knobs are smooth as silk and accurate. Zoom eyepiece was better than expected and held pretty good focus through the zoom with only some fine focus needed to clean it up. Wish it came with a hard case but it did have a weather sleeve that is well padded. No, it's not the finest Nikon, Canon, or Swarovski but it's not over 2k either. It is well worth the money I paid and really much more.
