I have a few swim buoys but decided to give this on a try. There is no height off the surface of the water which gives less visibility than other swim buoys but it can act as a float for resting. There is more drag than other buoys which is a good thing if you are swimming for exercise.

I got this for a recent swimming/diving trip. It came in handy first off as a nice buffer in my suitcase (I know how those suitcases can get tossed about). It has a string you can tie to leg/waist or arm, so it doesnt float off. You can drag it along or use as a paddle board, and I loved just sticking my neck into it and relaxing, floating on my back in the pool, comfortably supporting my head. Great in some of the rougher weather, and a nice visible orange for the passing dive boats.

Though this is not meant to alleviate personal responsibility in the water, it surely makes me feel a little safer. I can attach it to me so if I get tired or too far out, it can be used to rest or assist me in floating while I get back to safer water.

These brightly colored flotation devices give me just enough extra buoyancy when going into the ocean for a bit of summer fun to provide peace of mind. The tether is just long enough to keep it out of the way when not actually needed/wanted, but close enough at hand when desired as a flotation aide. The tether connection opening is reinforced for long term durability.

Jollyhobby Swim Buoy for Open Water reviewI live very close to the beach along the SE coast and this year is the first year in my memory that there have been so many rip tide warnings. Sometimes for several days a week and it seemed hardly a week went by without at least one warning and it wasn’t uncommon to have several each week.Because of that I didn’t get to enjoy the beech as much as I would have liked. I am older and not the strong swimmer I used to be. So I got this floatation device. It is not a life saving device and that is stamped on the device. I like how it straps around my waist and I will be able to swim with this trailing behind me but if needed it will be easy to reach it for help. I still won’t get in the water with tip tide warnings but for other days this will be a safety net for extra security. This would also be good for pool exercise. Every part looks well made. My order included the floatation device, the strap and a cute little squishy ball that I didn’t notice reading about being included. I am a careful beach goer and this will be a good aid. I think it is a wonderful device to have just in case I get a leg cramp or get caught in a rip current. I would recommend this for anyone who might need extra security and in my mind that would be everyone.

I ordered this as part of my emergency supplies. After seeing what happened with the flash flooding during the recent hurricanes, I realized I have nothing in the way of flotation devices or similar should I be caught in rising waters. This is 100% *NOT* a flotation device and does not replace a life vest, but it is quite visible and portable, so I decided to give it a try. It is so comfortable! I tried it in our community pool just for floating, and I really like it. It is well made and seems completely sealed so it won't get moldy stinky. The next time I go to the ocean I'll try it with the strap to see how it does in rougher waters. But if you're looking for something small and compact just to have a relaxing float in the pool - this is it!
