Sixteen inches might not seem like much, but it creates a lot of resistance in the water. My youngest has been a competitive swimmer for eight years. He has used twelve inch parachutes in practice previously, so I got him this bigger one since he's quite powerful in the water, and still has some lofty goals he wants to achieve while he's still swimming in high school and looking forward to moving into college swimming. A swimmer can get good without a drag parachute, but this type of tool really can take a workout to the next level, and can be good for getting a better feel for the water. It's great for psychology as well. Making things difficult and then going back to "easy" - which was once considered moderate or difficult - is always good for the mind of the athlete.

This parachute is a great tool! I’m only realizing this after a few weeks of intermittent use.Context: I’m 150lbs, 23 years old, 6’1”, size 30 swimsuit. I work out swimming and biking (3) times a week, doing about 1,200 yards in the pool each time I swim. I have swum competitively my whole life but never used a parachute before this one.On my first use, I was shocked at how much resistance the medium parachute gave me in the water. I thought, “I should have stuck with the small!” I tugged against the water, doing 50s (50 yards), and I was wiped-out after each one. Nonetheless, I felt the pull in my arms, so I trusted that I was getting the muscle-workout that I wanted. Now, a few weeks later, I’m slightly more used to the parachute, so I’m glad I got the medium size. I’ll let you do your own research on philosophy for using this: how far, how often, how fast, etc.For the product itself, it looks fine. I wish I got green or blue, just because those are my favorite colors! The parachute is pretty cool: It just automatically opens against the pull of the water! The rubber tubing used to connect the parachute to the belt is really cool. It’s strong and elastic, and it all coils nicely into the included ~8” x 8” mesh bag for transport.I wish that the belt wasn’t as big. I wear a size 30 swimsuit, and this leaves me nearly at the max tightness on the belt. This also means that there’s about a foot of excess belt that dangles against my leg in the water. I don’t mind this, but I wish it wasn’t as big.I also wish that the rubber tube connecting the belt and parachute wasn’t so long. It seems excessive, like 10’ stretched when I’m swimming. This means that when I turn on the wall, only about 6 yards in do I actually engage the parachute from where it stopped behind me when I turned on the wall. I can also see this long tube causing issues if I shared a lane with others, and we left more than 10 seconds apart from each other on our cycles.Final tip: Make sure to leave the mesh bag and parachute out to air-dry after use. It’ll get a little stinky otherwise, just like any swimsuit or tool or towel that gets wet!

This swim resistance parachute is perfect for me in size L. I am 6'1" and am moderately fast, but swim longer distances. More for enjoyment and fitness. The quality is good, and I expect this to last me for a while.I want to improve power and indurance, but do not feel like starting high intensity training. Instead I wanted to mimic resistance by currents using this parachute for longer distances. I really like it and I already see effects. Initially, my natural rhythm was affected by the slower speed, but I already went back to it after a few sessions. And my lap minutes have improved, too. So, it is a pretty subtle way of getting more power in my opinion without having to insert power training.

I ordered this product for my teenaged son, who is a competitive swimmer. He already has a swim parachute, but the chute is a smaller size (swimmers usually go with a smaller size and work their way up as they improve). I ordered the largest size chute for him, but probably should have gone with a medium, as it's a better progression from what he currently has. But we'll deal with it.The chute comes with a waist belt and a long rubber strap, the chute, and a mesh bag to carry it all. I appreciate the mesh bag, since we don't have one of those for his old one. He's not crazy about the rubber strap (his old strap is made of the same material as the waist belt), but if it really bothers him, he can use the old strap with the new chute. He does use the chute a lot for his daily practice, so this will help him improve/grow stronger.

My kids used this parachute at swim team practice. They could not believe how challenging it was to swim with it! This definitely does what it is supposed to do! The quality has been great and held up well. It adjusts to accommodate various waist sizes and is compacts to a small bag and hardly takes up any room in the swim bag!I would definitely recommend this and purchase again for other swim team members.

My wife has enjoyed adding this parachute resistance set in with her swim workout. The belt is pretty comfortable and it was easy to figure out/set up the first time. She said she got a good workout with it on and it's nice to add in and change things up in her workout.
