Can’t even draw plain water through! I tried a couple thinking the first, then second was a dud or something, but I nothing! How is it supposed to filter out particles when it can even filter out regular tap water? I guess it works for filtering air for the mushrooms but at least the ones I got won’t even filter liquid

I had ordered these several times. The first few times they worked good and were in the original packaging. Then I began receiving them in just a little plastic baggie and I found they leak. Definitely not hydrophobic and will waste your time and money.

Worked great for my mushroom liquid culture. These are perfect for that as being hydrophobic they repel water which is what you want for liquid culture.

For growing culinary mushrooms, I have been using micropore tape for a filtered air hole in both the liquid cultures and in grain jars. This syringe filter provides a much cleaner and more reliable filter, with much smaller particle filtration. I still seal with RTV silicone around the inside of the lid where the filter penetrates, and where the self-healing injection port fits, just to make double-sure that I didn't leave gaps where spores of mold could enter. Use a 5/32 drill bit for the hole in the lid for this filter. (Also, these provide perfect gas exchange or GE for colonization of mycelium. Fresh Air Exchange or FAE is only important for fruiting mushrooms.)
