304 Stainless Steel Pipe Fitting

Coupling

TAISHER 304 stainless steel Coupling, used for industrial connection of pipes or fittings of different end types, diameters or materials. It is a component used to connect, terminate, control flow and change the direction of pipelines in many different industries. It can be applied to water, air, gas, oil, fuel, refrigeration, meters, etc. (NPT thread size is not the actual diameter, it is only the nominal pipe size)

Teflon tape

For better sealing, we recommend using Teflon tape for pipe fittings.

54

Product Material

The accessory is made of 304 stainless steel, which has low temperature resistance, high temperature ductility and low magnetic permeability.

Product Details

Both ends are used to connect pipes of the same diameter for connection, termination and flow control.

[Please note] When purchasing pipe fittings, consider the application, as this will affect material type, shape, size, and required durability. Fittings are available threaded or unthreaded, in many shapes, styles, sizes, and schedules (pipe wall thickness)

Manufacturing quality is HORRIBLE! Threads are cut/tapped out of line and off-center. This means if you have a pipe coming in and a pipe going out the other end along the same axis, they will not line up. Don't expect a straight pipe run if you use these. Some threads are somewhat smooth, while others are so bad they cut through the teflon tape. A properly cut NPT thread should self-seal when tightened down. These will NEVER self seal without LOTS of teflon tape.

Would be nice to have parts made in the US but decent quality for my application.

I don't remember if this specific order was 304 stainless or 316 stainless, but when my water well developed major problems a while back, I also installed a larger propane tank, and bought quite a few stainless fittings for both systems. The water well because the high mineral content was attacking the galvanized pipe, and it had been originally built with a mixture of brass and galvanized, which caused electrolytic corrosion and leaks.Propane is normally plumbed with copper, brass, and / or black iron. However, again dissimilar metals can cause galvanic corrosion in the presence of moisture, such as long term exposure to outdoor conditions. Changing out corroded black iron for stainless, using proper Teflon tape on all the threaded connections, resulted in a good clean installation that future generations can easily maintain, expand, or modify as needed, decades or even centuries from now.304 vs 316 stainless:The most commonly encountered and lower cost stainless fittings are going to be 304. For a marine application or to handle salt water, you need the more expensive but much more chloride resistant 316 alloy. It is also wise to google for and download and study the technical details of various other stainless alloys before investing in a large plumbing installation or retrofit, to avoid making expensive mistakes. One quirk of these types of stainless is threaded fittings and fasteners are very prone to galling, even at surprisingly low torque, which then can make non-destructive disassembly very difficult. Always lubricate the threads of stainless fittings before fitting them, even for a test fit. Never assemble, even temporarily, stainless fittings "dry" direct metal to metal, as microscopic imperfections can quickly produce work-hardened bits that will lock the threads and keep you from either getting it apart, or torquing them sufficiently to get a seal. Use Teflon tape or pipe thread dope as a lubricant and sealant. For bolts and nuts or drilled / tapped surfaces, I have had good luck with a thin layer of axle grease or sometimes motor oil applied to the stainless male threads and swabbed into female threads as a galling preventative.
