This is a useful tool. I was recently asked to sew skirts for a dance troop of twelve girls. I needed their measurements but did not want to measure them because I was uncomfortable touching them and I did not want to have to trust their ability to measure themselves correctly. After a quick demonstration, the girls wrapped the tape around their waists, locked the pin in place, and I easily read the measurement. The skirts turned out great and everyone was happy. I love how the tape retracts quickly and tightly. Because I can keep it neatly in my purse it has come in handy when I am at the store and need a quick measurement before a purchase. Aside from those purposes, I plan to use this for my weight loss journey to keep track of my progress. I highly recommend it!

This is the best tool for measuring your body. Pressing the button cinches it down around your body part. And then it locks the measurement in place so you can pop out the tape, take it off and then read the measurement. Then you press the button again to retract the measuring tape. It's perfect for body builders trying to measure their gains, people training for weight control to measure their losses, or for measuring yourself when shopping online. I like using it to see if things like compression braces or heating pads will fit well.It also has a sewing style tape measure like a tailor or seamstress uses. Certain things you wouldn't want to measure with the locking tape measure, like your shoulders width, arms length or inseam. So it's nice that it's included.Highly recommended if you are into training, shopping for close online or exercising for gains or weight loss.

So first off, in case it’s confusing why it starts at 2”, that’s because this is a circumference tape. Look on the back and you’ll notice the distance from where it hooks in to where it retracts out is 2”. If you want to use it as flat tape, keep that in mind and subtract the 2”.Otherwise, as circumference tape this is well designed and works great. Yes, the internal measurements are on the inside, but the window on front also gives you a mirror measurement and it reads pretty accurately. It might be confusing to see the numeral 2 off to the side, but that’s also so the red indicator doesn’t obfuscate the numbers. The actual line for the 2 is under the red line, not above the 2 (in case you’re confused). This measuring tape does a lot of things differently from normal measuring tapes, but that doesn’t mean that this is off or unintuitive or anything, it actually means it’s improving upon many standards that simply shouldn’t be standards in the first place.Highly recommend this tape. It is fantastic!

I wasn’t sure what to expect since I have never seen a measuring tape of this type before. At first, I thought that it looked like it could be kind of flimsy, but when I started handling it, I discovered that it is actually relatively robust.I was really intrigued by the concept, and it did not disappoint in person. The tape is pulled out and wrapped around the measurement area. Then the little plastic cylinder at the end is slid into the hole on the other side of the housing. This needs to be pushed in all the way until it clicks, pushing the release plunger all the way out. Once the tape is fully engaged, the button in the center is pressed to take up all the slack in the measuring tape. The release plunger can then by pressed to disengage the end. This frees up the housing so you can see the measurement displayed in the window. One thing to note with the measurement window is that the tape needs to lay flat on the spool inside to get an accurate reading. The tape can be slightly loose sometimes, but it is very obvious when it is. Once the measurement is read and recorded, then the center button can be pressed again to fully retract the tape to make it ready for the next. One thing I did notice is that at least on small body parts (my foot), it gives a pretty loose measurement. This works great for measuring waist size, or something like that, as you don't want a skin-tight fit anyway, and a difference of 1/4" or so is not really going to have an impact. Most people taking their own measurements tend to pull the tape too tightly in areas like this anyway. But I knit socks, and 1/4" is a bigger deal there, and since you are wanting the sock to have to stretch to stay in place, knowing the 'skin tight' measurement is important. Just something to be aware of. It still was pretty amazing to use for my foot.All-in-all, I think this is a pretty hand little sewing gadget.

“Tape Measure Body Measurement Tape Tailor's Ruler Window Reading Lock Pin Button Measuring Tape Body Circumference Fabric Fat Loss Curve Measurement 60In/150cm Soft Tape Sewing Tape Measure”This is really a handy tape measure for body measurements. It’s so much easier to use than a typical measuring tape. The tape reels out of its plastic case smoothly and easily. It retracts back in the same way by depressing the button on the case. The window within the reel allows you to clearly read the measurement. You can read it clearly in the mirror (backwards, of course) or you can just tilt the case toward your eyes. Tilting it doesn’t change the measurement - it stays locked in.Once you wrap the measuring tape around something to measure its circumference, you insert the small cylinder at the end of the tape into a slot in the case, and then press it in the slot to lock it there (it clicks into place). To remove the end of the tape from the slot in the case, you press a button.I’ve compared measurements from this tape measure reel along with the included sewing tape measure with 3 other precision measuring tapes I have, and the tapes in this set are spot on. There’s no stretching of the tapes like with some cloth tapes, so they stay consistently accurate. My only concern might be how long the retraction spring in the case will last. Only time will tell, but if I have any problems with this body measurement tape, I’ll be sure to update this review.
