I don't have one of these, and I don't quite understand where the value proposition is for this $400 mic adapter when you can get a Tascam DR-60D mk II for less than $200, and it will do everything this does and more without taking over your hotshoe. The 60D will record 4 tracks with better quality than your camera, and send a reference mix to your camera. It doesn't need to be attached to the camera and is great as a standalone field recorder. The 60d might be slightly larger, but the squaresh body seems less awkward to me. I do have a 60D and, although it rotates out with my Zoom H6, I like the unit a lot.

I was looking for two-channel audio interface for my mirror-less Canon R5 C. During wildlife filming I use one channel for a shotgun mic for sound coming from the animals/birds and the second channel I connected a lapel-mic system for speaking live comments.

So far so good with a new unit, I had initially tried a used one and it intermittently worked so hopefully that is not where this one is heading, but I did add a protection plan just in case. Using with a R5C and having the external audio controls is very convenient for making quick adjustments for run and gun situations. The build quality is similar to the external units from Sony and Panasonic that I've used in the past, and I appreciate the addition of a limiter and headphone jack not found on the others.

This adapter was everything that I expected and more moving from Panasonic camcorders to Canon Mirrorless cameras. Great job Tascam!

This is a well-built, easy to use interface for direct injection of audio. I’m using this with a few different external shotgun mics (main Sennheiser) with my Canon EOS R3 and the sound quality has never been better. Highly recommend for upgrading your audio with minimal hassle.

This is the third unit we have had. They work intermittently then fail. This one from Amazon didn't even work out of the box. There appears to be a common issue with these but it is hard to discern why or how these fail. We had one that worked fine for about two months then: "Currently accessory cannot be used" warning came on the screen every time it was connected. This happens on both R5 C's. All units have current firmware.

I had to return this unit because it didn't work, on a Canon camera the connector is not compatible with Canon video cameras, I don't know if Canon has different adapters to connect this pro microphone interface for me it doesn't work,

Adds pro audio to Canon R5C and R3 and even R7 (but sadly not R5 and R6) via the new hot shoe without the need of running additional audio cable. It provides phantom power to the mic directly from the camera battery. The mic holder can be detached and it has a cold shoe that I use it with wireless audio receiver. I think this is a must have accessory for serious video shooters and I wish the price was a bit cheaper, though.
