Really nice Signal Generator.

Cosmetically cheap. Face plate is bubbled, switches are crooked, dial is flat plastic disc. The BNC to alligator clip cable provided is really short and did not provide a good ground connection. Thought my amp (UUT) was oscillating -turned out to be the signal cable. Overall though for the price this thing works well and does what it is supposed to.

The wave form is horrible. Distortion, noise and impossible to use in a bench.

I needed a low-distortion audio oscillator that could do a manual sweep, and was simple to use. This is an ideal sine-wave oscillator source for sweeping speakers to find problems like cabinet buzzes, or if you need to check out any kind of audio gear. In my case, going digital to add lots of waveform capabilities that I don't need but add complexity to the user interface, wasn't the right choice. If I had to find something to criticize it for, my scope thinks it has a small DC offset at low frequencies. Given that I know it's there, I'm not concerned.

With bit of effort, the unit can be improved significantly.Rotating transformer and adding a steel shield between it and the PCB drops 60Hz & harmonics by ≈30db.Shield is 5x8 flashing available at many hardware stores. Bend under ½", drill and fasten with transformer screws. Notch top edge to clear support bar.Adding a 50k linear pot in parallel with the level pot gives fine control.=============== Original Review Below: ===============Plenty of 60 Hz and harmonics in output. Distortion meets spec., about 0.09%.Transform is powered at all times. 'Power switch' is only circuitry.Frequency knob is difficult to turn. Impossible to adjust to exact frequency. Off by 5%. Impossible to fix as is glued to shaft.Typical poor Chinese soldering of wires and additional parts. Corrected.Forced assembly bends PCB due to poor design.Power and Sq/Sine switches not flush to PCB and at angle to panel. Repaired.Usable, just. Worse than expected.

This Signal Generator works great for testings audio equipment.

Works fine as a tone generator, pretty much the same as tone generators have been for 70 years. No frills, just a dial and range switches. The range switches have a very positive "clunk" when you engage them, so you're never wondering if you hit the button or not.Putting it on my oscilloscope the dial is smooth and the graduations on the dial are as accurate as you can get with manual tuning. Sine wave is smooth. Slight down check on the square wave, there are strong peaks at the beginning of each wave that might not be perfect for completely accurate signals, but for most (if not all) audio signal work it's fine.

The item is very easy to use. Calibration is dead on. Features cover 90 percent of anything that you might need. The sine-wave is gorgeous with zero distortion viewable on an oscilloscope. I use it mostly for testing audio amplifiers and speakers. There was one area that gave me trouble: The unit comes with a 3-wire grounded power cord. This introduced noise into an expensive TV receiver that I was testing. The only way to eliminate the noise was to use an ungrounded 3 wire to 2 wire adapter on the power.
