I used to use a aeration stone to add oxygen to my wort...However, oxygen tanks got very expensive....the Mix-Stir solved the problem. Just chuck into my drill and oxygenate my wort...works great!!

A friend did a demo of this in our brew club meeting. Seemed very effective so I bought one. It was easy to attach to my drill. It definitely got the wort churning. My yeast kicked off fine and I hit my target FG. I can't say it was all due to that but I'm sure it helped. Time will tell.

Wish I had discovered this baby 10 years ago!!! Great for mixing up almost anything. Works great for mixing in 1 gallon bottles, 2 gallon, 5 gallon bottles as well as paint cans, buckets etc... I thought it would have been better if the plastic “wings” were metal “wings” until I started using it. I since discovered that if the “wings” were metal instead of plastic it would over time break the plastic bottles I use it in. It mixes so well that you have to be careful that you don’t mix your stuff to fast or it will fly out of your bottle. In the past, I had to pick up heavy 5 gallon bottles and shake the hell out of the bottles to mix and I might add half as well as this stainless steel “rod” does. Life is a dream now when it comes to mixing. Super easy to clean.

This thing is excellent. Stir with the help of a cordless drill and its easy to clean. No worries about dropping a carboy while shaking to mix. Well worth the price.Yes, you could likely make your own from a dipstick in that old caprice classic sitting in the neighbor's front yard, but it would likely change the flavor of your brew and leave a residue in your mouth. This is stainless steel and has never been in motor oil. Buy this instead.

Bought this to aerate my mead and it does a great job! Shaking oxygen into our wort used to be one of the hardest parts of brewing. We wanted to use our big 5 gallon glass jugs but the worry they would fall and break while full was always super stressful, but this has made things much easier!It hooks onto any drill and just let it go. I'd recommend starting off slow to make sure you don't spin your liquid all over the place, but I was able to hold it at a good medium speed without anything getting thrown around. It also fits right into the carboy top so no matter what sort of container you are using this should fit.

Overall, this thing is pretty easy to use and is very effective for both mixing my initial mead batches and periodically degassing. As another reviewer mentioned, however, the bolt holding the mixing paddles is very loose, which often results in both paddles flipping to the same side if you bump the edge of your mixing vessel. It's easy to separate them again, but it won't mix well if you don't, and the bolt/nut on mine is impossible to tighten. I may do as the other reviewer did and just clip the old bolt and attach a new, better fitting one.

Reaches all the way down into carboy bottles and aerates the must perfectly.Cleans up easilyStart it at the surface, build a good must-tornado and then push down further aerating extremely efficiently.Plastic mixing fins won't mar the interior of the glass.Very handy, very efficient, better than picking up a 6 gallon carboy and shaking it!I definitely recommend this stirrer! No reservations or complaints.
