A fun item for any Trekkie. It is useful as a journal with good quality paper and a large format. The paper is thick and the cover is durable for carrying it around - but not a journal for daily observations. Lovely gift.

This captain's log is awesome. It's high quality paper, the foil printing is nice, and I'll definitely use it.My only complaint is that it's only around 40 pages, so it's use as a daily planner is limited. When I fill this one, I'll carefully cut off the very nicely made jacket and glue it to the outside of a planner with several months' pages. If the Unemployed Philosophers Guild releases a thicker version, I will definitely buy it.I still highly recommend this. The build quility is very high, so it almost feels like it could have been replicated for the actual job.

This Star Trek notebook is a fun gift for any Trekkies that you might know. My dad chuckled when he unwrapped it and keeps it in his office. Considering the reasonable price, you are sure to make somebody smile.

For me, 7" x 4.75" was a good size! Other reviewers were disappointed when they received theirs citing it was "flimsy" or "cheap" feeling -- this is NOT hardcover by any means. I would say that this notebook has the same feeling as a (larger) American passport, so please keep that in mind when ordering! I still love it, since it still maintains its rigidity. The pages are thick enough that writing with a regular ballpoint won't make indents on the back of the page, and gel ink won't bleed through. The color of the pages is not white -- I'd say its comparable with a parchment color (essentially light yellow? "Parchment" sounds cooler though!)The only thing that would make this notebook better:MAKING IT A HARDCOVER CAPTAIN'S LOG JOURNAL!!!! I don't know a single fan of Star Trek that would NOT want it. :D
