Therma-a-Rest used to make this as a one piece strap which was easier to use but these do work, just have to keep track of the separate pieces.

This set of straps will do well in a variety of applications, from stapping down a sleeping bag, binding up a bundle in a tarp, or even as emergency tourniquets, the uses are only limited by your imagination! A good inexpensive set to have in your bugout bag!

To make my B.O.B. as lightweight as possible, yet provide optimal functionality, for my sleeping gear I decided to use a doubled sheet of 4 mil Visqueen plastic as my ground cover with a Therm-A-Rest Military Self Inflating Sleeping Pad on top of it to insulate me from losing core body heat by sleeping directly on the ground. I would use my "wubby" (poncho liner) as a blanket when night temperatures and winds were mild, adding a Grabber Original Emergency Space Blanket as night temperatures cooled a bit more, then switching to a SOL 2-Person XL Emergency Bivvy Bag to sleep in when night time temperatures turned cold or even frigid. I chose to use a hooded military waterproof poncho with grommets around its perimeter as a rain fly that would be held in place with bungee cords hooked to sheltering trees and bushes, or around heavy rocks if the best campsite location was in a clearing with no trees or bushes. The Visqueen ground cover, XL Emergency Bivvy Bag, Space Blanket and even the poncho could be folded to fit neatly into an 8" MOLLE Utility Pouch attached to my B.O.B. But the Therm-A-Rest Self-Inflating Sleeping Pad and my Wubby could never be folded to fit into an 8" MOLLE Utility Pouch. Since both of these items are very light in weight, I deflated the Sleeping Pad, rolled it up tightly, folded my Wubby to the same width as the Sleeping Pad and rolled it around the Sleeping Pad into a nice, tight bedroll, which I kept compressed with four Therm-A-Rest 24" length Accessory Straps. The two center straps were used to secure my bedroll to the top of my B.O.B. through two MOLLE webbing ladder straps located there. Strapping my bedroll to the top of my B.O.B. left the bottom portion of my B.O.B. available to my heavier gear, placing most of the weight of my loaded B.O.B. on my hips, rather than my shoulders, making my B.O.B. easier to carry and lowering the center of gravity of my loaded body, which also improved my balance moving over uneven or rough terrain. The 24" length straps were the perfect size to snug my bedroll down tightly and fit easily through the two small MOLLE webbing ladder straps on the top of my B.O.B. and their ladder-lock buckles were much simpler to use and more secure for tightening and loosening my bedroll to my B.O.B. than the 550 paracord strands I had been using before buying the Therm-A-Rest Accessory Straps. 550 paracord, like duct tape, can handle a lot of tasks and both should absolutely be included in your B.O.B. But there are many tasks that can be done better when you use tools made specifically for those tasks, and tying down my bedroll on my B.O.B. is definitely one of those tasks that is performed better by Therm-A-Rest Accessory Straps than by 550 paracord. MOVE OUT ON THE DOUBLE, GRUNTS!!

Super duper!Ok well these are just straps so maybe I'm getting a bit excitedHere's the deal: these straps WORK and WORK WELL for securing my long Thermarest to the back of my pack. I have used these straps on a few hikes now. I have secured my 1 man tent to my pack with these as well. They are long enough I could probably put both my tent and my pad in these. They are cost effective and well made. No fraying, No buckle failure -- and I have really tugged on these thingsFor instances used, I can tell I will be getting my money out of these straps

Compact, strong and at 48"... just the right size for binding a sleeping bag, etc. Since the price is virtually the same I'd suggest avoiding the 24" option. Unless you have a specific need then just take the longer sizes and trim to length. With scissors and a lighter for sealing the cut end this gives you the flexibility for all kinds of needs.Don't get frustrated if the strap "slips" on your first few trys at weaving it thru the buckle. There is one way only to insert into the openings and once you get it right it's a "Ta-Da" moment. Honestly it ends up being a simple pattern and once done correctly the strap absolutely does not slip. It would have been nice if Therm-a-Rest thought to put an easy diagram inside the package cover but maybe they assume you have experience. It was a bonus that the strap flattened out quickly after coming out of the package in it's rolled up form.Flexible, inexpensive, appears to be long lasting, etc... What's not to like?

Well this will certainly be the easiest review I've ever written. This product works. It's a simple strap and will get lots of use. What else can you expect? I've used it to hold gear on my bikes handlebars, compress sleeping bags and attach a sleeping pad to my pack.

Got these straps so that I could Molle my sleeping bag to my Condor 3 day assault pack. They work great! I have not used them in the field yet but they secured the sleeping bag tightly and there is no slipping of the straps. They got 4 stars because I wish they were just a tad wider but that's just nitpicking.
