I have a small desktop furnace for heat treating experiments. I thought this would be a better solution that sticking a wire thermocouple through the door, and it is. However at 1100 F it's about 4-5% off compared to the controller and 2 other thermocouples I tried. It gets better around 2000 F, down to about 1.5% off.It works fine other that that. I have higher quality options if I need them, I just use this for datalogging now to see time at temperature.

It is accurate enough for my purposes for a smoker. But be very very careful with the threads they are easy to snap when you tighten down the nuts.
