I frequently hand-sew tears to my dogs' toys. In the past I've used a leather thimble, but ... the dog ate it. I decided to give this thimble tape a try, and to my surprise, it worked really well! I can't get it to wrap around my finger as nicely as the pictures in the listing, but I can get the job done. It protects my finger against even significant pressure when I'm pushing through multiple layers of fabric. I was surprised to learn that it's also reusable - The thimble I made on my finger easily came off, held its shape, and I have it for the next time I need it. This tape will last a long time!

This thimble tape is really useful for me as a nail artist. When I have nails on and I start to file or buff press-ons, most of the time I end up scratching & buffing the color off of my own nails. With this thimble tape, I can wrap my fingers and nails to ensure that doesnβt happen. And it works really well. Itβs kind of the same material as the wrap they use on you after you give blood, only a little more stiff. It sticks to itself in the same way as that wrap does. It kind of reminds me of me of mesh drywall tape, if youβve ever seen it. However, itβs not uncomfortable to wear. The only thing I can say that might be negative is that, although it sticks to itself, it does not stick to your skin. Because of this, it sometimes falls off my finger, especially if Iβm filing a nail and push on it with the nail file. Itβll come right off, unless I wrap it really tight, which is not very comfortable and can sometimes feel like itβs cutting the circulation off to my fingers. That is NOT a good thing, so maybe keep that in mind when deciding whether to purchase or not.

This product doesn't work for me. I bought it to protect my finger when doing applique. I really wanted this to work and believe the idea is good. However, for me, when doing the hand applique, the needle still would go through even with multiple layers. My silk thread would stick to it, pulling it out of my needle. It needs to have a smooth flat surface to work for what I need it for.

Since my business partner and I both sew and I crochet, I loved the idea of this. Regular thimbles don't stay on my skinny fingers very well and my partner sews leather and needs to be able to grip a needle tightly to pull long lengths of waxed thread through the punched holes. We both tried this and thought it might be the answer to some of these challenges. My index finger on my non-dominant hand can get really sore where it holds the yarn as I'm crocheting. I typically just use a fabric band-aid over it to help protect the skin. I thought this tape would be a good option. Unfortunately, it doesn't stick to my skin enough, and tends to roll in the direction I'm pulling my yarn. I admit that could be possible user error and maybe I just need to use a bit more tape. I'm not strong enough to tear this with my hands, but I always have small scissors in my project bag so that isn't a huge issue. I am going to keep experimenting with this and see how things go. If I find the right combination of quantity and application, I will update my review.

What an innovative product! This tape is made out of the same stretchy elastic-type "coban" bandages used in the hospitals, I believe...it sure feels similar (I used to work as a medical laboratory technologist and never even considered other uses for this product such as this). The fabric is slightly stretchy, looks almost like a fairly thick, "coated" gauzey cotton strip. The coating has no odor and does not rub off. It only takes about 3-4 wraps around the end of finger(s) you use in hand-sewing to push the needle through whatever fabric or material you are using, and a regular sized needle does not penetrate. When I have to hand-sew thicker materials such as rope, the needle is average to a bit larger- this tape works well for these size needles instead of a metal thimble. It provides better flexibility and doesn't slip off like a metal thimble does. If you use a very small needle such as in embroidery projects, you may want to give it an extra wrap or so. You receive two very generous rolls. I really love this product!

I needle felt every day and my finger is always being poked. Finally decided to try this and itβs great! Canβt wear a thimble because itβs lower on my finger that I poke. This protects me without hindering my ability to hold the object and work. Should have done it years agoπ

Very versatile for nimble and protected fingers. Less awkward than a thimble. Easy to wrap multiple fingers and still do needle work. So glad I discovered this product. I've also used to protect finger under gardening gloves.
