I didn't know how much I needed one of these until I used this. I was using a pencil or pen in the center of the spool balanced in a shoe or box. sometimes I would have my son hold the spool but using this spooler make it super easy once everything is setup. You can set the tension on the line to keep it tight not having to worry about the spool spinning when you stop reeling and removing line off the reel is really easy too. The only things I wish was for the parts not to be all plastic, feels like I can easily over tighten the plastic tension knob breaking it and for the spool capacity to be bigger.

This fishing line spooler works as expected. It’s colorful and well-made. It’s easy to use and set up. It’s not very big and you’re able to store it away when not using it. When you’re spooling it, it keeps the line tension very tight. It’s a great value.

I was tired of yelling at my lil helper just like I’m sure they were too… this made a world of difference. Keeps great tension on the line while you are re spooling your reel. Took less than 10 minutes once I set it up.

As a fisherman, if you don't have a line spooler, you really ought to do yourself a favor. I've tried just leaving the spools in boxes, sticking pencils through the spools and trying to hold it, dowels and cardboard boxes, just holding the line tight as best I can... None of it works with the convenience of this simple rig. It's easy to put on and remove from the rod. It works well to both remove and add line onto a reel. The adjustable tension is great. This is far, far better than inevitably dropping the spool and having to chase the unwinding spool across the floor. It's small enough to not clutter up your space and convenient enough that you really owe yourself one of these handy little gadgets.

So I tried this for the first time today. Getting ready for spring fishing. I'm using 6 lb line on lightweight gear. This works great with narrow spools, but not so much with a larger spool. The larger spool will not fit.Once I got the drag down right, it was easy to put the line on the reel. I even used it once to take line off a reel and that worked fine again, as long as you set the drag set correctly.

Interesting line spooler or line remover. Easy to use and compact enough to stow on the boat if needed. I have used it for removing lead core line from a reel that I wanted to respool with braid. Both removal and respooling worked out nicely. There are a number of criteria that you have to pay attention to as this unit will not be a "do all-fits all" tool. Spool width and inside diameter are limited as well as fishing pole diameter when mounting the tool for use. An adjustable tension knob helps to keep the spool from running free and spilling line off the spool. Helping to eliminate tangles. The included direction sheet was very helpful.

Berkley fishing line spool will not fit the coil support. We had to drill out the center hole in line spool so it would slide on.
