I would call the UV Protector mandatory to protect your lense. The polarized filters like this one can enhance your photos by blocking glare. Many newer cameras have built in filters, but these are a quick & easy fix to glare.

1st of all they're Made in the USA in Long Island New York P outer diameter of the filter is in silver would some people complain about but it's actually a blessing because it's easier to spot in a camera big or if it ever is left somewhere the 2nd thing is these filters resist dirt and smog yours and are easy to clean with old scratching

Very pleased with this filter. I use it for mid-day shots to add contrast to my pictures. Easy to use. As I rotate the polarizer I get an instant read on my Fufifilm X-E1 histogram and can instantly see what is happening to the contrast in my image.
